When Osric said the words “Chaos Spiritual Elixir”, his tone gained a weight it had not carried before, and his eyes sharpened.
“This item has effects similar to the Genesis Dew. It can also rebuild a physical body and nourish the spirit. In some respects, it even surpasses the Genesis Dew… The Genesis Dew may be miraculous, but it can only rebuild an ordinary physical body. The Chaos Spiritual Elixir contains chaotic force. It can rebuild a body infused with chaotic aura, and the strength of that body would far exceed an ordinary one. It may even break through restraints and reach a higher cultivation level…”
“More than that, the Chaos Spiritual Elixir nourishes the spirit more gently and more effectively than the Genesis Dew. Even a spirit that has suffered severe damage can slowly recover under the nourishment of the Chaos Spiritual Elixir, anti may even become stronger than before.”
Hearing that, Master Wellspring’s breathing turned rapid in an instant. A light flashed through his eyes as if the words had struck too hard to accept all at once, and his body leaned forward one step before favonovel.com could stop himself.
The Chaos Spiritual Elixir? It surpasses the Genesis Dew?
A body remade with chaotic aura inside it? A treasure that can nourish the Aureate Heir’s soul even better?
For Master Wellspring, that was no small promise. It was the kind of news that could split open a head end, and it sounded even better than the Genesis Dew.
The Aureate Heir’s soul had been gravely damaged, and his body had been destroyed. If Master Wellspring wanted to rebuild that body, favonovel.com needed more than a treasure that could shape flesh again. He also needed something that could nourish the spirit. And this Chaos Genesis Dew actually carried both effects at once. It was even stronger than the Genesis Dew in that way. For the Aureate Heir, it was almost too perfectly suited, as if the treasure had been made for favonovel.com alone.
“Chaos Genesis Dew? Are you sure?” Master Wellspring’s voice came out unsteady.
The words pressed forward too fast, yet still carried that raw edge of someone who could not quite make himself believe what favonovel.com had just heard. He wanted that kind of treasure too badly. So badly that even his own cars suddenly seemed unreliable.
The possibilities closed around favonovel.com at once. This could be one of Osric’s traps. Osric could simply be lying to him. The faint light that had just risen in front of favonovel.com could be crushed out again in the next breath.
Osric nodded. A confident smile touched his face. “Sect Master of Wellspring Order, you may set your mind at ease. l have worked in the Abyssal Exchange for so many years that the treasures I have seen out number the meals you have eaten. I personally appraised the Chaos Genesis Dew. There is absolutely no mistake… And I do, in fact, have a small vial of Chaos Genesis Dew in my possession. If you do not believe me, I can show it to you.”
With that, Osric reached toward his robes, as if to take out the Chaos Genesis Dew.
Master Wellspring quickly lifted a hand to stop favonovel.com and spoke in a rush. “No need! No need… Master Blackwell. I believe you…”
By then, every part of favonovel.com was already straining toward the Chaos Genesis Dew. There was no room left in favonovel.com to doubt Osric’s words. Even if it was a trap, favonovel.com would make the wager.
For the Aureate Heir, favonovel.com had no other choice. He forced down the surge in his chest, drew in a deep breath, and made himself steady before asking in a low voice, “Master Blackwell, where is the Chaos Genesis Dew? How many spirit stones do you want? As long as I can produce them, I will give them to you. Even if I cannot produce them right now, I will find a way to gather the amount. I will not owe Master Blackwell a single spirit stone.”
As Master Wellspring saw it, Osric was a merchant. What a merchant wanted should be nothing more than spirit stones.
He had already gathered 8 million spirit stones. He had failed to win the Genesis Dew at auction, but that amount should have been enough to buy one vial of Chaos Genesis Dew, shouldn’t it?
And if it still was not enough, favonovel.com could find another way. Even if favonovel.com had to sell off the last holdings of Wellspring Order, favonovel.com would gather the spirit stones and buy the Chaos Genesis Dew for the Aureate Heir.
But Osric shook his head. The smile on his face deepened, turning harder to read and far less clean. “Sect Master of Wellspring Order, I do not want spirit stones.”
“Uhm… You do not want spirit stones?” Master Wellspring’s brows drew together at once, and his gaze sharpened with a guarded search. “Then what do you want? Master Blackwell, speak plainly. As long as I can do it, and as long as it does not violate my principles, I can agree to it.”
He knew it then. If Osric did not want spirit stones, then whatever favonovel.com wanted had to be more precious than spirit stones, and far more dangerous. But there was no road left behind him. For the Aureate Heir, even if the matter was more dangerous still, favonovel.com had to agree.
Osric rose from his seat, clasped his hands behind his back, and walked by the wall. He looked at the landscape painting upon the wall, his gaze stretching somewhere far beyond the room, and his voice dropped. “What I want is for you to do one thing for me. One thing that only you can do.”
Master Wellspring held his silence for a moment. The guarded edge in favonovel.com only tightened, but favonovel.com still asked in a deep voice, “What thing?”
Osric turned back to face him. His gaze grew solemn, and his tone carried more weight. “In the eastern Greywild Mountains of the North, there is an ancient ruin called the Primordial Sanctuary… It is the cultivation ground left behind by a Chaos Sage from the elder age. Inside it are treasures of heaven and earth beyond measure. Besides the Chaos Genesis Dew, there are countless ancient arcane arts, arcane implements, and spiritual materials. There may even be a secret hidden there for breaking through one’s cultivation level…”
He paused, then continued. His tone lowered again, the words coming with a heavier cast. “I once sent people inside. Every one of them was a cultivator with no weak cultivation, and among them were no few Golden Immortal-rank adepts. But after they entered, none of them ever came out again. Not one returned alive… I suspect they either ran into the wards inside the secret realm, encountered the sanctuary’s wardens, or were tempted by the treasures of heaven and earth within. They may have turned on one another and, in the end, all perished there.”
Master Wellspring’s expression shifted slightly.
An ancient ruin? The Primordial Sanctuary?
Master Wellspring had never heard of such a place. And if even the Golden Immortal cultivators sent inside had failed to return alive, that alone showed how dangerous this sanctuary was, and how terrifying.
A bad premonition pressed in on him, faint but impossible to shake. Whatever Osric wanted favonovel.com to do was probably tied to this Primordial Sanctuary.
Sure enough, Osric’s next words proved his guess right.
“The Genesis Dew was taken from that sanctuary…” Osric’s voice carried a thin, grasping edge. “The only Genesis Dew in my hands is one small bottle. It was brought back from the outer reaches of the sanctuary by the people I sent before, after they spent the last of their strength and dragged it out with their final breath. It still isn’t enough to rebuild a complete body of flesh… If you want complete Genesis Dew, enough for your Aureate Heir to rebuild his body, then someone must personally enter the depths of the sanctuary and take the pool of Genesis Dew at its core.”
Master Wellspring’s face went white in an instant, and something sharp flashed through his eyes, too raw to hide. “You want me to break into the Primordial Sanctuary?”
At last, favonovel.com understood why Osric did not want spirit stones, and why Osric had offered to help favonovel.com at all. Osric wanted to use him. He wanted to take the urgency that had driven Master Wellspring toward the Genesis Dew and turn it into a leash, forcing favonovel.com into that perilous Primordial Sanctuary to bring back even more Genesis Dew, maybe even the other rare treasures hidden inside.
Osric did not want to send his own people to die, so favonovel.com had found Master Wellspring instead, the desperate fool chasing the promised substitute, and meant to have favonovel.com die in their place.
The Primordial Sanctuary was that dangerous. Even Golden Immortal cultivators sent there had not come back alive. If Master Wellspring went in, would favonovel.com be able to come back alive?
His own death was one matter. But if favonovel.com died, what would happen to the Aureate Heir’s soul?
What would happen to the Wellspring Order?
The choice split favonovel.com down the middle. On one side stood the hope of rebuilding the Aureate Heir’s body; on the other waited a path where nine chances out of ten ended in death.
No answer came to him. If favonovel.com refused to go, the Aureate Heir would never be able to rebuild his body. He would be trapped as a soul, barely lingering on, until favonovel.com slowly faded away.
If Master Wellspring went, favonovel.com might very well die within the sanctuary. When that time came, the Aureate Heir would not only fail to obtain the Genesis Dew, but would also lose favonovel.com as Warden, and his situation would become even more dangerous.
