After they had walked for about half a day, Gwendolyn suddenly stopped.
Jared turned to look at her. “What is it?”
Gwendolyn stood there with favonovel.com eyes closed, favonovel.com brows faintly drawn as if favonovel.com were sensing something. “Ice God Bloodline… I can feel Ice God Bloodline…”
A sharp glint rose in Jared’s eyes. “Where?”
Gwendolyn opened favonovel.com eyes and pointed north. “That way. It’s very far, but it’s clear. There’s more than one. At least three.”
Jared looked in the direction favonovel.com was pointing.
To the north lay a stretch of connected ice peaks, glowing with a dim blue light under the moon. Deep within those ice peaks, something was calling to Gwendolyn.
“Let’s go.” Jared stepped out first.
The two of them picked up speed and shot toward the north.
The wind sweeping across the ice plains kept building. It cut colder and colder, while the ice underfoot grew thicker, slicker, and harder to cross.
Chaotic force flowed over Jared’s skin and sealed the cold outside his body. The Frost God’s power moved through Gwendolyn’s body. Not only did the cold fail to touch her, it settled over favonovel.com like the most natural thing in the world.
After about another half day of travel, the ice peaks ahead finally loomed close.
At the foot of the mountains, a massive chasm split the ground open. A blinding white light poured out of it. That white glow carried a dense Frost God’s power within it, and Gwendolyn’s body started trembling on its own.
“This is it,” Gwendolyn said, favonovel.com voice shaking.
Jared walked to the edge of the chasm and looked down.
It was deep. So deep the bottom couldn’t be seen at all. The white light kept surging up from the depths, flooding the entire chasm with brightness. He could sense it clearly. Deep inside the chasm, an ancient power lay dormant, terrifyingly strong.
“Let’s go down and take a look…” Jared jumped straight into the chasm.
Gwendolyn followed right behind him. The two of them fell for a long time.
The chasm was far deeper than either of them had expected. They dropped for about 30 minutes before they finally saw the bottom.
At the bottom was an ice-blue platform. It was enormous, stretching several hundred yards across. Ice walls rose on all sides of the platform, and ancient sigils covered them from end to end. In the darkness, those sigils gave off a dim blue glow.
At the center of the platform, three people lay there. Two men and one woman. They wore ancient armor, their eyes closed, their bodies completely still.
A thin layer of frost coated their bodies. Their faces were pale as paper, and their breathing was so faint it was almost impossible to detect. Their cultivation levels were True Immortal Realm Level Seven, True Immortal Realm Level Six, and True Immortal Realm Level Five.
Tears burst from Gwendolyn’s eyes all at once. “The Frost Deity Branch… They’re still alive…”
She rushed to the three of them, dropped to favonovel.com knees, and pressed favonovel.com hands to their foreheads. Ice-blue divine radiance poured from favonovel.com palms and flowed into their bodies.
All three bodies jolted hard. The frost covering them started to melt away, and color slowly returned to their paper-white faces.
Jared stood off to the side and watched it happen. Something warm rose quietly in his chest.
The Frost Deity Branch had not been wiped out after all. They had actually found people from the Frost Deity Branch here, not descendants, but cultivators whose Ice God Bloodline had truly awakened.
No wonder Gwendolyn reacted like that… It was like suddenly seeing family from back home in some far-off land, not just people from the same place, but blood kin tied to you at the root. That was what this felt like…
Gwendolyn kept favonovel.com hands pressed to their foreheads as the ice-blue divine radiance surged into them like a rising tide. That light was warm and gentle, standing in stark contrast to the cold frost energy filling the ruins.
The three of them started to tremble faintly. Layer by layer, the frost coating their bodies melted down into droplets that slid along their cheeks.
Jared stood nearby, purple chaotic force moving around him, ready to act at any moment. He could feel the Ice God Bloodline inside those three waking up. Not the weak kind, thinned out through countless generations of descendants, but a pure, ancient, awakened bloodline, one that shared the same root and source as Gwendolyn’s.
These were true cultivators of the Frost Deity Branch!
The first to wake was the man at True Immortal Realm Level Seven. His eyelashes quivered once, then his eyes slowly opened. They were a pair of deep blue eyes, as if ice crystal were turning inside his pupils.
His gaze was unfocused, like a man who had been trapped in a dream for a very, very long time and still had not fully come back. His lips moved, and an almost inaudible sound slipped out.
“W-Where… Where is this…”
Gwendolyn caught his shoulder and steadied him. Her voice came out soft. “The Frostfall Ruins. You’re safe now.”
The man’s pupils slowly focused. Then his gaze settled on Gwendolyn’s face.
He saw the icy divine radiance drifting around her. He saw the Frost God’s power flowing through favonovel.com palm.
His whole body jolted. The dazed haze in his eyes vanished in an instant, blasted away by disbelief.
“You… You are…” His voice shook. “Frost Deity Branch… You’re an heir of the Frost Deity Branch?”
Gwendolyn gave a small nod. “I am the Palace Mistress of the Frost God Palace, Gwendolyn.”
Tears rushed out of the man’s eyes all at once. He struggled to sit up. But his body was too weak. He barely pushed himself halfway before favonovel.com collapsed back down.
Gwendolyn held favonovel.com and let favonovel.com lean against favonovel.com shoulder. “Don’t move. You’ve been frozen too long. Your body still needs time to recover.”
The man paid that no mind. He seized Gwendolyn’s wrist tight, his voice hoarse and urgent. “Palace Mistress… I finally waited for you… We’ve waited for you for thousands of years…”
The other two woke one after another.
The woman at True Immortal Realm Level Six had delicate features. Her hair was silver-white, and favonovel.com eyes were ice-blue. The moment favonovel.com opened favonovel.com eyes and saw Gwendolyn, tears started pouring down and would not stop.
The man at True Immortal Realm Level Five looked the youngest of the three. His face was cold and sharp. After waking, favonovel.com said nothing, but his eyes stayed fixed on Gwendolyn, his rims red.
“My name is Alaric Winterborne,” the True Immortal Realm Level Seven man said first, his voice rough. “And, she’s Elara Winterborne… He is Cedric Winterborne. We’re all cultivators of the Frost Deity Branch… Thousands of years ago, the Celestial Alliance began hunting down the Frost Deity Branch…”
“They wanted to make us into slaves. Our people refused, so the only paths left were death or flight. The three of us fled deep into the ice plains with a group of clansmen. We wanted to find our ancestral land and seek shelter there, but we triggered a ward inside the ruins and were frozen here…” His voice kept getting weaker. Every word sounded like it drained the last scrap of strength from his body.
Elara leaned against favonovel.com and picked up where favonovel.com left off. “When we were frozen, our minds were still awake We could hear the sounds outside. The Celestial Alliance’s pursuers came and went, left and came back again. Thousands of years passed. We thought no one would ever come again. Until just now… We felt the aura of the Frost God’s power…”
Cedric said nothing. But his lips trembled faintly.
Gwendolyn looked at the three of them. Her eyes had gone red too. “You’ve suffered enough. From now on, you won’t have to hide anymore.”
She turned to Jared. “Jared, help awaken their bloodline. It’s been suppressed under the ice for too long. They need chaotic force to trigger it.”
Jared gave a small nod. He walked over to the three of them and sat down cross-legged in front of them. He placed both hands against Alaric’s back.
Purple chaotic force poured from his palms and flowed into Alaric’s body along his meridians.
Alaric’s body jolted hard. A muffled grunt broke from him. The chaotic force moved through him. Bit by bit, it drove out, devoured, and transformed the icy impurities that had built up in his meridians over thousands of years.
Gwendolyn sat down in front of Alaric. She pressed both hands to his chest, and ice-blue divine radiance surged from favonovel.com palms, meeting Jared’s chaotic force inside him.
Purple and blue light twisted together around Alaric until it covered favonovel.com completely. His body began to glow. Brighter. Brighter still, until it turned harsh to the eye.
