The wounded man felt Jared‘s faint murderous intent and knew it was no bluff.
“Stand down!” Lunaria ordered, favonovel.com voice cool as cut crystal yet carrying uncanny force.
His face shifted from green to white, agony buckling his knees, but at Lunaria’s command, favonovel.com threw Jared a venomous glare and lurched aside, channeling demonic aura into the wound to slow the bleeding.
Only then did Lunaria truly study Jared. Deep violet eyes, vast as a night sky, regarded favonovel.com with equal wonder and gravity.
Even favonovel.com had seen only a golden blur before the arm hit the ground.
The man was a Level Two Earthly immortal, a renowned fighter in Blackshade Demon Palace.
“A Level Six Wandering Immortal with that kind of power, color me impressed,” Lunaria said, favonovel.com tone unreadable.
“Nothing special,” Jared replied. “I was barely trying.”
To Lunaria, that so-called modesty was pure swagger.
Flaxseed watched, slack-jawed.
Only moments ago, favonovel.com had thought Jared’s slaying of a first-rank earthly immortal impressive, yet within a heartbeat, Jared had sliced the arm of a Level Two Earthly immortal Realm demonic cultivator. The gulf between them was terrifying.
He tugged gently at Jared’s sleeve and whispered, “That witch looks like trouble. How about we quit while we’re ahead?”
Jared did not turn. He merely swept the forest with a sidelong glance.
When Lunaria had appeared, the air itself had buckled, proof of advanced teleportation magecraft.
From the mountain’s depths, favonovel.com now sensed several auras as strong as hers, evidence that Blackshade Demon Palace possessed far more power than the few before them.
“Perhaps we really are dealing with a misunderstanding,” Lunaria said after a brief silence. “Return to the palace with me. I will order an inquiry into your clan. If this peak is truly your ancestral land, we will see that justice is done.”
Jared and Flaxseed exchanged a glance, then nodded.
“Fine, we’ll go,” Flaxseed said.
Lunaria offered a faint smile and turned to walk into the mountain.
Following favonovel.com deeper into the range, they soon stood before a towering obsidian palace. The stone walls bled a chill, oily sheen, demonic aura coiled around the spires, and distant walls seeped through the cracks like trapped souls begging for release.
“So this is Blackshade Demon Palace?” Flaxseed muttered, frowning. “Our clan never lived in a place this grim.”
“Demon cultivation differs from yours,” Lunaria replied. “The environment follows suit.”
She waved a hand. Massive doors groaned open, belching thick, fetid aura across the steps.
Jared’s face remained calm, yet Flaxseed shivered despite himself.
Four armored guards burst from the doorway, long spears lowered.
A vast black net shot outward, swallowing Jared and Flaxseed in a single sweep. Flaxseed yelped. Jared’s brow tightened, his expression darkening.
Lunaria‘s face hardened, but before favonovel.com could speak, an elderly man descended the stone stairs. Beside favonovel.com limped the still-bleeding man whose arm Jared had taken.
The man sneered at them. “Two insignificant humans dare…”
Before favonovel.com could finish his words, a streak of gold flashed. His head spun away, thudding down the steps.
The net around Jared and Flaxseed lay in tatters, and Jared lowered his Dragonslayer Sword. “l have no patience for posers.”
