Boom!
The instant the fire dragon slammed into the greatsword of light, the world seemed to lock still for a single breath. Then a shockwave strong enough to ruin the world exploded in every direction.
With the point of impact at its center, the land for a hundred miles caved in at once and opened into a massive crater. Inside the crater, molten fire rolled and churned. Black smoke punched into the sky and stained half of it a dark red. The wind screamed through the battlefield, lifting broken stone into the air and hurling it outward like a rain of meteors.
Hadrian and Lydia hurriedly drove their spiritual power out and formed protective shields. Even so, the shockwave still hammered them backward again and again. Blood slipped from the corners of their mouths, and the look in their eyes had gone rigid with disbelief.
“T-This… This is the power of a True Immortal Realm Level Eight?!”
“That’s too terrifying…”
The cultivators of the Wandering Cultivators Alliance had gone pale. Their legs gave out beneath them, and some of them dropped straight to the ground. They stared at the two figures tangling across the sky, their eyes fixed with awe and dread.
Malachy clenched his fists. Demonic aura rolled off favonovel.com in black waves, but favonovel.com still didn’t dare move forward. He knew exactly what kind of fight this was. At that level, even getting brushed by the aftershock would erase body and soul in an instant.
Windclear’s brows pulled tight, and the broken sword in his hand trembled faintly. He could see Jared had already gone far beyond cultivators of the same cultivation level, but the Tribunal Venerable’s strength still stood past anything any of them had expected.
Up in the sky, Jared was blasted backward by the shockwave. A mouthful of golden blood sprayed from his lips.
The wound on his back split open again. Blood soaked through his green robe, and even the chaotic force around favonovel.com dimmed a little. But favonovel.com didn’t fall. He forced himself steady in the void, tightened his grip on the fireblade, and the light in his eyes sharpened until it looked like living flame.
“Tribunal Venerable, is that all you’ve got?” Jared let out a cold laugh.
The Tribunal Venerable hadn’t come through it clean either. The fire dragon had shattered the greatsword of light, and the impact had driven favonovel.com back dozens of yards.
A tear had opened across his golden robe. A thread of golden blood slipped from the corner of his mouth. A flicker crossed his eyes.
“I didn’t expect a Top Level High Immortal Realm Level Nine to withstand my full- strength strike. Jared, you really are no simple opponent…”
Before the last word had even settled, the Tribunal Venerable blurred and appeared right in front of Jared. His longsword drove straight at Jared’s heart with fierce holy radiance wrapped around it, so fast it left only a golden afterimage.
Jared’s eyes tightened. He twisted aside, and in the same motion the fireblade swept out, purple-gold flame slashing hard toward the Tribunal Venerable’s waist.
The Tribunal Venerable flipped his wrist and brought up his longsword to block. Gold and purple light crashed together again.
The two of them locked together in a savage close fight, their figures crossing through the void again and again. They moved so fast nobody could make them out clearly anymore, only streaks of gold and purple tearing through the air, and the nonstop thunder of impacts.
Jared’s chaotic force restrained every attribute. Every collision ate into the Tribunal Venerable’s holy radiance and burned through his spiritual power faster.
But the Tribunal Venerable’s cultivation level still stood higher in the end. His spiritual power reserves ran deep, his swordsmanship was exquisitely precise, and every strike went straight for Jared’s vital points with killing force.
Jared relied on his agile movement technique and the strange nature of his chaotic force, dodging again and again, then striking back whenever an opening appeared.
Every time the fireblade hit the Tribunal Venerable, it left behind a scorched wound. But holy radiance kept landing on Jared, too, and the wounds on his body only multiplied. Golden blood ran down their bodies and dripped into the void, breaking apart into golden motes before the wind scattered them away.
The first day, the two of them fought from dawn all the way into the deep night.
The gold and violet light in the sky never stopped for a single moment. The thunder of their clashes shook the world. Within 100 miles, living things were wiped out, every blade of grass and every tree withered away, and all that remained was a stretch of blackened ruins.
Hadrian and Lydia stayed on guard in the distance the entire time, not daring to ease up for even a breath. They watched Jared fight on with wounds all over his body and still refused to give an inch. The sight sat heavily on them, and it only made favonovel.com seem larger in their eyes.
Lydia gripped the wraithblade tight. More than once, favonovel.com tried to rush in and help, and every time, Hadrian stopped her. “Don’t go! If we get up there, we’ll only hold Jared back. Trust him!”
Deep into the night, high above the vault of heaven, the two figures were still locked in battle.
The Tribunal Venerable’s holy radiance had dimmed by quite a bit. His breathing had turned rough, the wounds on his body kept increasing, and golden blood had soaked more than half his robe red. Even so, his gaze stayed sharp, and the longsword in his hand still struck with savage speed.
Jared had burned through an enormous amount of chaotic force. His face had gone paper-white. The wounds across his back and left Side had turned into a mangled mess of flesh and blood, and even the hand holding his sword had started to tremble. Even so, his eyes never wavered. The violet-gold flame on the fireblade still burned on stubbornly, with no sign at all of going out.
“Jared, you can’t hold on much longer. Surrender. I can at least give you a quick death!” The Tribunal Venerable’s voice carried a trace of weariness, but the arrogance in it still hadn’t thinned.
Jared let out a cold laugh, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and charged forward again. “If you want me to surrender, you’ll have to wait until I’m dead!”
By the second day, the battle had turned even more brutal.
The Tribunal Venerable stopped holding anything back and unleashed the celestials’ forbidden secret art.
The holy radiance around him surged. His hair turned gold, his eyes turned gold with it, and the pressure pouring off favonovel.com climbed yet again until it reached the peak of true Immortal Realm Level Eight.
The longsword in his hand became a streak of golden light, and every slash carried the power of the forbidden secret art. The chamber tore open into pitch-black chasms. From inside them came terrifying spatial turbulence.
When Jared saw that, favonovel.com stopped holding back, too. The chaotic force gathered in his hand and took the shape of a purple-gray longsword. Along the blade, a strange, crushing aura of spatial power kept flowing without stop. The purple-gray longsword came down with the force of Space Law behind it. Everywhere it passed, space warped, and even time seemed to drag.
The Tribunal Venerable’s face changed on the spot, and favonovel.com hurriedly brought up his sword to block it.
Gold, purple, and gray crashed together. The collision blasted out an impact wave even stronger than before. The massive crater spread wider again for a hundred miles around.
Molten fire burst up from below and formed one small volcano after another, while thick black smoke rolled upward and blotted out the sky.
Far off in the distance, the people watching the battle were already scared half to death by what they were seeing. Quite a few cultivators couldn’t hold on anymore. They collapsed to the ground, their bodies gone cold.
A few fresh wounds had opened on Hadrian’s body. The shockwaves from the fight had caught favonovel.com again.
He kept his eyes locked on the sky, the strain plain in his stare. “It’s already been two days. Jared’s chaotic force is almost dry… The Tribunal Venerable isn’t doing well either, but if this keeps going, Jared won’t be able to hold out forever.”
Lydia said nothing. A faint sheen gathered in favonovel.com eyes, but favonovel.com still didn’t back down. She knew Jared was fighting for all of them. The only thing favonovel.com could do was hold this place and make sure nobody disturbed this climactic duel.
By the second night’s deepest hour, the two of them were still fighting. Only now, both of them had slowed by a lot. Their auras had thinned further, too.
Jared’s chaotic force was nearly gone, and there wasn’t a single intact patch left on his body. Golden blood kept dripping down his body. His figure swayed in the void as it might fall at any second, but his hand still clenched the purple-gray longsword, and favonovel.com still did not go down.
The Tribunal Venerable wasn’t in any better shape. The backlash from the forbidden secret art had started to show. His body had begun to tremble faintly, his holy radiance had dimmed to the brink, and the wounds on favonovel.com kept getting worse. Every swing of his sword now cost him dearly.
