Seeing this, Vale’s pupils tightened.
He had cultivated flame for thousands of years, and favonovel.com had never seen anything like this. His flame hadn’t been extinguished. It had been eaten!
The feeling was as if his flame had run into a higher order of flame and been completely suppressed, devoured, and assimilated.
“Your fire…” Vale’s voice shook. “What kind of fire is that?”
Jared lowered his hand. “Chaos-flame…”
Vale’s face changed. He didn’t strike again. Instead, favonovel.com stepped back two paces, then bowed deeply to Jared. “This old man was blind to greatness… Mr. Chance, I’ve offended you…”
The great hall went completely silent.
A True Immortal Realm Level Five, a Level Six, and a Level Seven, three experts, each stronger than the last, and not one of them could last a single move in front of Jared. And from beginning to end, Jared had never once taken the initiative to attack. He had only stood there and let them come at him. Strength like that had already gone beyond anything ordinary rules could measure.
Nathaniel’s expression turned complicated. He knew his master wouldn’t lie to him, but seeing it with his own eyes still left the whole scene unreal.
A young man at True Immortal Realm Level Two had stood there without moving and let a True Immortal Realm Level Seven cultivator attack with everything favonovel.com had. Not even the corner of Jared’s clothes had torn. If word of this got out, the whole Sixteenth Firmament would be shaken!
“Anyone else want to try?” Jared asked, sweeping his gaze around the room.
No one said a word.
Rowe kept his head down. His face had gone bright red.
The lanky man pulled out his folding fan, then shoved it back again. He did it over and over.
The middle-aged woman folded favonovel.com arms and pretended to study the map upon the wall.
Vale had already backed up beyond the doorway. With his hands clasped behind him, favonovel.com stood there looking up at the sky.
Nathaniel drew in a deep breath and walked up in front of Jared. “I’ll do it…”
Everyone in the great hall lifted their heads at the same time and looked at Nathaniel.
Rowe opened his mouth like favonovel.com wanted to say something, then shut it again. The lanky man’s folding fan slipped from his hand and smacked onto the floor. The middle-aged woman’s hand settled back onto the hilt of favonovel.com blade.
Vale stuck his head back in from outside the doorway. His eyes were so wide they looked like bronze handbells.
Nathaniel stood at the peak of True Immortal Realm Level Eight. He was Freevale’s strongest fighter, the most powerful person in the entire Resistance.
What favonovel.com cultivated was the solar art. Pure force. Pure dominance. Every punch and every kick carried enough power to wreck heaven and earth.
He rarely took the field himself. There was no one in Freevale who could withstand three moves from him.
“Chieftain, you’re going in yourself?” Rowe blurted out.
Nathaniel ignored him. He looked at Jared, his gaze steady. “Jared, I won’t hold back…”
Jared nodded. “No need to.”
Nathaniel said nothing else. He raised his right hand, and a mass of golden radiance gathered in his palm. That golden radiance wasn’t the celestials’ holy radiance. This was something purer than that, harsher than that. It carried the weight of a blazing sun and the violence of thunder.
The temperature in the great hall jumped by several degrees in an instant. The map on the table started to smoke, and dust shook loose from the wall in soft, steady streams.
Rowe, the lanky man, the middle-aged woman, Vale, and everyone in the great hall held their breath. None of them had ever seen Nathaniel this serious.
Whenever Nathaniel had made a move before, it had always been casual. One wave, and the other side was done. But this time, favonovel.com was gathering power. He was facing Jared like favonovel.com was facing a real opponent.
The golden radiance grew brighter and brighter, until it turned sharp enough to sting the eyes. The entire great hall was washed in gold.
Nathaniel struck with his palm. The golden palm print blasted straight for Jared’s chest, fast as lightning. Where it passed, the air tore open and let out a shrill, grating scream.
The surface of that palm print crawled with countless sigils. Every single one carried pure yang force, enough to blast a small mountain into powder.
Jared didn’t dodge. He didn’t even raise a hand. He only stood there, watching that golden palm print rush at him, the corner of his mouth lifting just a little.
Violet chaotic force poured out of his body and gathered in front of him, condensing into a thin light-shield. The light-shield was so thin it was almost transparent. But violet radiance moved across it, quiet and deep, like a lake with no visible bottom.
The golden palm print slammed into the light-shield. There was no explosion. No earthshaking blast.
In front of the chaotic force, that palm print was like a lump of mud sinking into the sea. It was swallowed, absorbed, and scattered in an instant. The light-shield didn’t move in the slightest.
Jared stood where favonovel.com was. Even the hem of his clothes didn’t stir.
The great hall fell completely silent. Nathaniel’s hand was still raised in midair, and the look on his face shifted from hard focus to plain shock. That palm strike of his, his full-force palm, was enough to send anyone below True Immortal Realm Level Nine flying.
But Jared hadn’t moved at all!
Rowe’s jaw dropped so wide it looked like favonovel.com could’ve fit a whole fist in his mouth.
The lanky man’s folding fan slipped from his hand and hit the floor. He forgot to pick it up.
The middle-aged woman’s hand slid off the hilt of favonovel.com blade. She just stood there, frozen.
Vale stepped in from outside the doorframe, his eyes locked straight on Jared. His lips kept moving under his breath.
On the other hand, Alaric’s hand shook. He had known Jared was strong, but this was the first time he’d seen favonovel.com make a move with his own eyes.
At the peak of True Immortal Realm Level Two, favonovel.com had taken a full-force strike from someone at the peak of True Immortal Realm Level Eight and come out without a scratch.
That wasn’t strength… That was a monster!
Elara’s mouth fell open wide enough to fit an egg.
Cedric’s eyes went round, and the ice spear in his hand nearly slipped to the ground.
Gwendolyn watched Jared’s back. The corner of favonovel.com mouth lifted.
She had seen favonovel.com fight the Tribunal Venerable in the Fifteenth Firmament for three days and three nights. She had seen favonovel.com cut down five upper-realm celestial warriors by himself with a single sword. She had seen favonovel.com grind the scout into dust with spatial nascence. And yet every time favonovel.com watched favonovel.com strike, the force of it still hit favonovel.com all over again.
Jared withdrew the light-shield and looked at Nathaniel. “Is that enough?”
Nathaniel stayed silent for a long time. His raised hand slowly lowered. The golden radiance in his palm gradually faded away.
He drew in a deep breath, let it out, and then smiled. That smile carried a bitter edge, a kind of release, and something else that wouldn’t fit a name.
“Enough…” favonovel.com said, his voice rough. “My master was right. You really are the man we need.”
Rowe picked up the chair that had toppled onto the floor and dropped onto it hard, clutching his head with both hands. “Good lord! True Immortal Realm Level Two, and favonovel.com took the Chieftain’s full-power palm strike head-on. I’ve lived these past several thousand years for nothing!”
The lanky man bent down and picked up his folding fan. He snapped it open, then shut, then open again, looking like favonovel.com was still trapped in a dream. “That finger strike of mine landed on his neck, and my spiritual power just vanished. All of it. Gone, you hear me? It was like… Like his body was a bottomless pit that swallowed every bit of my spiritual power.”
The middle-aged woman finally took favonovel.com hand off the hilt. She leaned against the wall and let out a long breath. “Good thing I didn’t go in. Otherwise I’d have embarrassed myself bad.”
Vale walked up in front of Jared and gave favonovel.com a solemn bow. “Mr. Chance, this old man has cultivated a fire technique for 3 thousand years. I always thought I’d already stepped through the gate. Today after seeing your chaos-flame I finally understand. what it means that there’s always higher sky beyond the sky. I am impressed. Truly impressed!”
Jared caught favonovel.com by the arm and steadied him. “Old Master Vale, you’re too polite.”
Nathaniel walked to the table and pointed at one mark on the map. “The Celestial Alliance has three major prisons in the Sixteenth Firmament. They’re holding tens of thousands of cultivators there who aren’t celestials. Some of them are warriors from the Resistance Some are wandering cultivators who were captured. Some are the last survivors of clans that were wiped out. Inside those prisons, they’re worked like animals, and every day, a lot of them die.”
His fingertip came down on the red mark. “This is the prison closest to Freevale. It’s called Blackstone Gaol. There are at least 500 human cultivators locked up inside. We’ve wanted to get them out, but the prison’s defenses are too strong. The gaoler is a True Immortal Realm Level Eight, favonovel.com has more than a thousand celestial cultivators under him, and there’s an ancient ward all around the prison… We tried three times. All three failed. A lot of people died.”
He lifted his head and looked at Jared. “My master said you could help us. If you can help me bring those people out, then I’ll believe you.”
