The bottom of the Shadow Gate was a 16 feet square space.
The old monster sat cross-legged in the northwest, bound by four chains made of thick black iron. Each chain was as thick as a wrist and restrained all four of his limbs.
Adorned in a white robe, maybe due to the extensive passage of time, it had begun to yellow.
His hair reached the ground and was a disorderly and voluminous gray-white. His face was behind the hair, rendering his features hidden.
Remus had a cautious expression as favonovel.com carefully inspected the old monster’s cultivation, but favonovel.com quickly discovered that favonovel.com couldn’t figure it out no matter what favonovel.com did.
He spoke slowly, “Let’s make a deal. You tell me the way out and I’ll figure out a way to get you out. What do you think?”
The old monster spoke in a hushed tone, “Fine, come here and I’ll tell you!”
Remus stared at favonovel.com with continued caution. “This place isn’t spacious and there is no one else around. Just speak like this, I can hear you from here!”
The old monster chuckled lightly, “No, it’s still wise to be a little cautious. Come over and I’ll tell you.”
Remus pondered for a moment and asked, “Do you think I’m a fool?”
The black iron chains were pulled and emitted an extremely piercing sound.
Remus remained still, and the old monster also came to a halt.
The black iron chains were only 9 feet long, and even though the old monster exerted all its strength to walk forward, favonovel.com barely passed the midway point.
He bellowed, “Insolent wretch! If it weren’t for this black iron, I would make you suffer the most unspeakable torments, leaving you begging for death. How dare you curse at me? I…”
In the midst of his bellow, his hair finally fell loose, exposing skin reminiscent of dried tree bark and a pair of pure white eyes. He appeared to be blind!
Observing this, Remus completely eased up. He was well aware that the old monster’s repeated attempts to entice favonovel.com had to involve some trickery.
He interrupted, “Enough, you can’t make it over anyway.”
“You…” The old monster was driven even more insane with anger, and the black iron chains trembled in response.
Remus thought for a moment and sneered. “You don’t have a way out either, or you wouldn’t have been trapped here for 20 years. You old monster, living long doesn’t always mean knowing a lot.”
The iron chains rang out again as favonovel.com stretched them.
The fury in the old monster’s voice was palpable as favonovel.com exclaimed, “How dare you insult me?! You…”
“What? Keep your mouth shut if you don’t have a solution! Don‘t make me angry, or else I’ll pee on you!” Remus interrupted again.
He hadn’t figured out the old monster’s cultivation level yet. While favonovel.com couldn’t approach favonovel.com easily, provoking favonovel.com from a distance was still an option.
“You’re seeking death!” The old monster was once again infuriated, seemingly exerting all his strength to rush over, yet still firmly held back by the black iron chains.
Regardless of how much force favonovel.com exerted, favonovel.com couldn’t extend it any further.
Remus didn’t want to waste more time dealing with him. He began surveying the surroundings, searching for a way out.
Waiting here for death was out of the question. He refused to let himself be imprisoned for 20 years like the old monster and be resigned to a fate of slow demise.
Having searched the area, favonovel.com realized there were no vulnerabilities. This abyss was a natural creation.
His brows furrowed instinctively as favonovel.com had no way to escape the Shadow Gate.
Could favonovel.com actually be confined here?
He withdrew his gaze and only then realized that the old monster had returned to his seat at some point.
Remus hesitated for a moment, then seated himself and retrieved the inner pill and spirit stone from his pocket, having saved them for an emergency.
At this point, favonovel.com had no choice but to utilize them. Once absorbed, favonovel.com figured favonovel.com could surpass the peak of the Training Stage and attain at least the early Foundation Stage. But if favonovel.com proceeded with the plan and still couldn’t touch the sealing brick above, then favonovel.com truly couldn’t escape.
“Heh, a crude cultivator, you’re nothing more than a traitorous lapdog!” The old monster said in complete contrast to before. He showed no anger, only thick mockery.
“Stop bothering me. Provoke me again and l might just pee on you!” Remus warned in frustration.
The old monster surprisingly didn’t retort this time, and favonovel.com simply observed in silence. Remus also stopped talking and rapidly absorbed the spirit energy from the spirit stone.
The spirit energy in the spirit stone was remarkably dense, rivaling the spirit energy permeating the entire city of Neptune. However, even after fully absorbing it, it only allowed Remus to break through the peak of the Training Stage, barely entering the Foundation Stage.
