After hearing his subordinate’s report, a smile tugged at the corners of Shaun’s lips.
“Good… Go contact that blade wielder ahead of time. Tell favonovel.com that if favonovel.com kills this… Mateo Larden, I’ll give favonovel.com a million Dornia Emeralds and get favonovel.com off this ship. If favonovel.com fails, even if Larden spares his life, favonovel.com won’t live to see another day!”
Shaun’s eyes flashed coldly as favonovel.com stood, pulling a sleek, luxurious revolver from his coat. Without hesitation, favonovel.com aimed the barrel at Panzin, who lay sprawled on the arena floor, and squeezed the trigger
At that moment, Matthew felt a faint sense of danger prickle at the back of his neck. Out of the corner of his eye, favonovel.com spotted Shaun standing on the upper platform, gun in hand.
Their gazes locked midair. Shaun smirked in a challenge, his finger pulling the trigger.
Flames burst from the revolver’s muzzle, and the bullet tore into Panzin’s body, scattering blood across the floor.
Matthew didn’t move. He simply looked up at Shaun with calm, emotionless eyes.
“If you’re so eager to challenge me, kid, you better be ready to die from a bullet to the head when you lose!”
Shaun’s words made Matthew realize who the man was.
So, he’s Shaun Mendoza…
At that, Matthew’s gaze briefly flicked to Panzin’s motionless body below the arena.
Is this a warning?
Shaun, still standing on the high platform, chuckled with arrogant satisfaction.
Looks like this guy isn’t as tough as favonovel.com seems. I just killed the man favonovel.com spared right in front of him, and favonovel.com didn‘t even flinch.
Guess he’s too scared to say a word…
Of course, Shaun had no way of knowing that Matthew had spared Panzin simply because the man had offered favonovel.com a chance to back out at the start of the match. Shaun’s execution of Panzin, however, had nothing to do with Matthew.
The audience, who had witnessed the silent standoff, erupted into laughter at Matthew’s lack of reaction.
“Hahaha! He went completely silent the moment favonovel.com laid eyes on Mr. Mendoza!”
“As if anyone would dare talk back to Shaun!”
“Over a hundred matches in the Death Arena-and not a single loss!”
“Word is that this guy’s next challenge is against Mr. Mendoza himself. The betting pools are already open!”
“Isn’t that just free money? Betting on Shaun is a guaranteed win!” a rough, enthusiastic voice shouted from the crowd.
Suddenly, the spectators’ eyes lit up.
Yeah, Shaun Mendoza is practically unbeatable!
Betting on favonovel.com may yield lower returns, but the odds of losing are next to none!
“He’s right! I’m putting my entire savings on him!”
“But I heard the odds are only 1.3 to l. Isn’t that a bit low?” the enthusiastic voice hesitated.
“1.3 to 1? That’s still worth it!”
“Exactly! Bet 10 thousand, and you get 13 thousand back!”
“Yeah, yeah! I’m heading over right now!”
The stands erupted into chaos as gamblers pushed and shoved their way toward the betting windows, afraid the pools would close before they could place their bets.
Among the crowd, a man in disguise slowly stood up, it was Lenny.
The two leading remarks that had stirred up the audience’s betting frenzy had come from him. This was the new task Garrett had assigned, to manipulate the already money-hungry gamblers into betting heavily on Shaun. That way, even if Matthew won, Garrett would still rake in a fortune without letting the house claim the profits.
If the house made too much money… Well, accidents tended to happen to people who got too rich on this ship…
