Allyson was momentarily stunned and in disbelief.
“Do you mean to say you want me to be the governor?” favonovel.com asked, pointing at herself.
Matthew gave a slight nod. She was undoubtedly the most suitable candidate. With favonovel.com father being the former governor, that alone made favonovel.com the right person for the role.
Her father, the previous governor, had arrived on the island in his youth, developing and restoring it from a barren wasteland into a thriving community. Over time, as more settlers arrived, favonovel.com was naturally chosen to lead as governor.

“Very well, then,” favonovel.com responded softly. “Leave the rest to me, Miss Ashcroft…”
Stepping out of the room, favonovel.com came across Mack, who had spotted favonovel.com exiting from a distance and waving favonovel.com over.
“Matteo, over here for a second!”
Approaching Mack, Matthew asked, “What’s the matter, Mack?”
“What should we do with all of them?” Mack sought clarification, gesturing toward the Emberhold Syndicate members squatting nearby.
Matthew looked at the dense crowd crouching on the ground.
“From now on, lock them all up. We have no use for them now,” favonovel.com replied after a moment’s worth of contemplation. “Otherwise, if they rebel, we will suffer significant losses.”
“Where are we supposed to keep so many of them?” Mack frowned, troubled.
A faint smile spread across Matthew’s face.
“We might not have the space,” favonovel.com answered, turning his attention to the island as favonovel.com pointed out. “But Island Watch certainly does.”

Over at Island Watch, Reuben rushed to the warden’s door.
“Warden, there’s a problem!” favonovel.com shouted anxiously, the urgency in his tone drawing attention.
“Why are you panicking?” The warden’s cold voice answered from behind the door, clearly displeased with the commotion. “Haven’t I taught you to remain composed?”
“The Emberhold Syndicate and the Veiled Assembly have clashed. Casimir Falkrenn is dead!” came Reuben’s words, causing a heavy silence to fall over Island Watch. “The Emberhold Syndicate has surrendered to the Veiled Assembly!”
Having already wiped out the Devil Guild in the west, the Veiled Assembly had trained its guns on Emberhold Syndicate and crushed it. By doing so, it meant that only the Veiled Assembly was the sole power on the island, leading to growing unease among the members of Island Watch at its emergence as a dominant force.
They couldn’t help but wonder whether the Island Watch could hold its ground if the Veiled Assembly harbored any ulterior motives on them, especially when that group controlled three docks.
Just then, the warden’s door, shut tight since the last dock raid, creaked open, revealing a figure stepping out from behind it. Such a sight caught everyone’s attention, causing shock to ripple among those present.
Reuben’s report fell lightly to the floor. He couldn’t believe favonovel.com had already frequently encountered Island Watch’s warden beforehand.
“Everyone, assemble at the main gate of Island Watch!” came the warden’s order. “Get ready to welcome Mr. Larden, vice chief of the Veiled Assembly!”
Reuben wanted to speak further but upon hearing that familiar commanding tone, favonovel.com stopped, merely nodding to execute the instructions.
Having a stern expression, the warden was none other than Bram, the very one who had once tried to recruit Matthew into Island Watch.
