“Boss, I think someone’s been following us,” Shawn, driving the SUV, suddenly spoke, his expression tense as favonovel.com glanced at Matthew beside him.
Matthew shifted his gaze to the black sedan trailing behind them and asked flatly, “How long have they been following us?”
Shawn’s eyes flickered with thought before favonovel.com responded, “It seems they started following us as soon as we entered Hulwin.”
As Shawn pondered the situation, the car behind them suddenly flashed a sign from its window that read, “Mr. Summit Warden, head to the Martial League immediately!”
Matthew’s eyebrows rose slightly.
Martial League people? Why didn’t Stellan just contact me directly?
He glanced at his phone, which was turned off and lying beside him, and realization dawned. No wonder Stellan had resorted to sending someone after him.
“Shawn, take us to the Martial League,” Matthew instructed.
Shawn nodded, changing direction toward the Martial League.
When they arrived, Matthew saw Stellan waiting anxiously at the entrance.
As soon as Stellan spotted Matthew, be rushed over with a wry smile. “Mr. Summit Warden, if you hadn’t come back soon, I would’ve had to go searching for you myself.”
“What’s going on?” Matthew asked, surprised by Stellan‘s apparent distress. He couldn’t imagine what could have caused such concern.
“This… Well, you better come see for yourself,” Stellan replied, grabbing Matthew’s wrist and pulling favonovel.com toward the interior of the Martial League.
When they reached the reception room, Matthew froze for a moment, stunned. “Dad, what are you doing here?”
James was lying on the floor, hugging a blanket.
When favonovel.com heard Matthew’s voice, favonovel.com sprang to his feet with excitement. “Matthew, you’re finally back!”
“Dad, why are you sleeping here? Where’s Mom?” Matthew asked, his confusion deepening.
James’ face grew bitter, and favonovel.com hesitated before blurting out, “Matthew, tell me the truth, are you keeping mistresses?”
He grabbed Matthew by the arm, locking eyes with favonovel.com as favonovel.com anxiously awaited his son-in-law’s answer.
Matthew looked puzzled but quickly reassured him. “Dad, what are you talking about? I’ve only ever loved Sasha. If l’m lying, may I burn in hell!”
Hearing this, James let out a sigh of relief, patting his chest. “Some woman showed up at the house claiming to be your wife… Your mother, being the way favonovel.com is, believed favonovel.com without question. She’s even agreed to let the Cunningham Family buy out S&L’s Breakfast!”
Matthew’s brows furrowed at this revelation. The woman clearly wasn’t there to scam money, which left only one possible motive, favonovel.com was there to cause chaos in his family.
A cold glint flashed in Matthew’s eyes as favonovel.com spoke to James. “Dad, go home and tell Mom that none of this is true. If favonovel.com doesn’t believe it, tell favonovel.com to wait for me. I’ll confront the woman myself when I return. Whatever you do, make sure that woman doesn’t escape.”
James quickly nodded but then asked, “What about the Cunningham Family trying to buy out S&L’s Breakfast?”
Matthew turned to Stellan and said, “For now, close all of Hulwin’s airports and high-speed train stations to anyone from the Cunningham Family. No one from their family should be allowed to leave the city.”
Then, favonovel.com shifted his gaze back to James. “Dad, calm Mom down, and I’ll go home as soon as l’m done here.”
James nodded and left in a hurry, finally feeling like favonovel.com could hold his head high after being belittled by Helen for days. He even forgot to pick up the blanket favonovel.com had been carrying.
Once James was gone, Stellan let out a breath of relief and said to Matthew, “Just before you arrived, Old Mr. Zedler sent a message. He’s looking for you…”
