Out of the shadows, Veiled Assembly members emerged with guns blazing, grinning as they unloaded on the Devil Guild. To them, it was like taking out fish in a barrel, the Devil Guild had practically walked into their hands.
Bullets tore through the ranks of Devil Guild members who had followed Deadeye into the grove, their bodies quickly piling up as they were riddled with bullets.
The back ranks barely had time to react before the men hiding in the trees opened fire from above, cutting them down in waves.
In less than a minute, Veiled Assembly’s force of five or six hundred had decimated half of the Devil Guild’s thousand-strong force.
“Run! It’s a trap!”
“Help me, I can’t make it on my own!”
“I can’t die here-I have unfinished business!”
“Get off! Are you seriously using a corpse as a shield?”
In the chaos, Devil Guild members turned on each other, some grabbing fallen comrades as human shields while scrambling to flee.
Watching from a distance, the night hunters who had been observing were stunned.
“What’s going on? Didn’t the Devil Guild just go in? Where’s all this gunfire coming from?”
“Is it the Emberhold Syndicate? But that doesn’t make sense…”
“Maybe it’s the Island Watch-they’re dropping fast!”
As they watched the fleeing Devil Guild members desperately seeking cover, a thought crossed their minds, perhaps now was the time to strike.
Deadeye, crouching behind a tree, clutched his bleeding thigh where a bullet had struck.
His heart ached, watching his men fall around him, these weren’t just followers, they were his ticket to becoming an emissary. If they were wiped out, his ambitions would be dead in the water, and the current emissary might even see favonovel.com as useless and dispose of him.
“Find cover!” favonovel.com roared, his voice filled with desperation as favonovel.com took stock of the situation.
Hundreds of armed men from the Veiled Assembly were raining bullets on them, unrelenting.
Desperate, favonovel.com shouted out, “Chief Hancock! Let’s talk this over!”
Continuing like this, even if favonovel.com managed a victory, it would come at a terrible cost. If the Emberhold Syndicate decided to intervene, his entire operation would collapse.
Mack’s gruff voice boomed in reply, nearly making Deadeye choke with rage. “Talk? After you bring an army to my doorstep, you expect me to talk? Brothers, tonight we end the Devil Guild!”
Mack’s scornful response left Deadeye reeling.
Watching the relentless gunfire, favonovel.com realized favonovel.com had only one option left. If favonovel.com was to survive, he’d have to reveal his connection to the Medusa Gang, hoping to intimidate them.
