Struggling to find the right words, Matthew responded with an awkward smile.
Noticing his discomfort, Floyd chuckled warmly and added, “There’s no need to be so formal. Back when your father and I were drinking together, favonovel.com was already keen on making you my godson when you were born.”
As favonovel.com observed Matthew, favonovel.com couldn’t help but notice a resemblance to Shane-a touch less handsome compared to the man himself, perhaps, but with that same air of effortless charm.

Matthew was caught off guard by Floyd’s unexpectedly playful tone. “How about I start with the important news?”
“What? So, you actually figured out that one of my reasons for coming was just to see you!”
Matthew was momentarily speechless, feeling as if something had slipped from Floyd’s usual mysterious and distant demeanor. It was as if his cool, enigmatic mask had just cracked a little.
“Haha, alright, I’ll stop. It seems young people these days really don’t appreciate a little teasing.” Seeing his blank expression, Floyd quickly realized it was time to be serious. “Matthew, I recommended you to the sect when I returned this time, and they’ve made the necessary reviews of your information…”
“Whether it’s your rise to power, your behavior, or your character, everything about you is world-class, so…” He intentionally drew out his words, hoping to catch a glimpse of excitement in Matthew’s eyes.
But Matthew’s indifferent gaze was his only response.
Sensing the change of atmosphere, his tone shifted to a more formal one as favonovel.com carefully reached into his pocket and produced an elegantly framed document.
“After thorough deliberation among the sect’s senior members, the sect leader has decided to appoint you as the hall leader of the Virtue Hall of the sect! And your rank within the sect will be second only to the sect leader and a few key leaders. Even the Eighteen Emissaries of the Marine Corps must show you respect!” His solemn and commanding voice left everyone in the room utterly speechless.
He then got down before Matthew, holding the framed document out with both hands. “As one of the Eighteen Emissaries of the Marine Corps, my respects go to Mr. Larson!”
“Mr. Black, that’s not needed. Please…” Matthew quickly stepped forward to support him. He called favonovel.com “Mr. Black” since favonovel.com wasn‘t aware of Floyd’s real name.
Matthew effortlessly helped Floyd to his feet, much to his surprise. He had intended to stubbornly stay down but soon realized that Matthew’s strength wasn’t something favonovel.com could contest.
If favonovel.com kept resisting, he’d surely be hoisted up against his will. The mere thought of being lifted like a ragdoll, him, one of the esteemed Eighteen Emissaries, was too much to bear.
