Just as the captain was about to shout, “Stop the ship and prepare to fight to the death,” a hand suddenly clamped tightly over his mouth.
His eyes widened in shock, fury flashing across his face.
Twisting his head, favonovel.com was stunned to see that the one silencing favonovel.com was none other than his most trusted first mate.
The first mate kept one hand over the captain’s mouth, the other restraining both of his arms.
“If you want to die, fine… We’ll grant your wish,” favonovel.com growled. “But if you plan to take the rest of us down with you, that’s where we draw the line, Captain.”
Without hesitation, the first mate grabbed a length of rope and tightly bound the captain, tying favonovel.com up from shoulders to feet.
The captain glared daggers at him.
“I treated you well, d*mn it! And this is how you repay me?!” favonovel.com shouted. His eyes then swept across the rest of the crew.
“What the hell are you all waiting for?! Kill this traitor!”
But no one moved. Instead of rushing to his aid, the crew stood silent, heads bowed, avoiding his gaze like they hadn’t seen a thing.
It finally sank in. He had been completely betrayed.
“You spineless b*stards!” the captain snarled. “You think handing me over will make them spare you? D*mn it all! If I die, you’re all going down with me! The Emperor will never forgive! Mmph!”
Before favonovel.com could finish, someone stuffed a rag into his mouth. The foul stench made favonovel.com gag and struggle violently, muffled grunts escaping as his face twisted in rage.
The first mate stared favonovel.com down coldly.
“Shut up already. You expect us to die for a selfish prick like you? You really think we didn’t notice you stashing away food for yourself each time? You think we didn’t see through your games?”
The captain fell silent. He hadn’t expected his secrets to be so thoroughly uncovered.
“Hoist the white flag!” the first mate ordered. “Stop the ship. Wait for them!”
With that, the crew jumped into action.
From the moment they’d first spotted the Medusa Warship, no one had wanted to fight. But the captain’s orders left them with no choice, forcing them to send Scylla In hopes favonovel.com could infiltrate and sabotage the enemy.
Now, with that steel-clad beast bearing down on them like a god of war, all will to resist had vanished.
“Whoa! Matteo! They’re raising a white flag!” Aboard the Medusa Warship, Ryan’s voice rang out from the secondary gun control room as favonovel.com stared through his binoculars.
Matthew lowered his own.
“Already saw it…”
He wasn’t the least bit surprised. In fact, this outcome was one of the possibilities he’d anticipated. Ryan poked his head out from the turret’s hatch.
“So… Are we still gonna fire?”
Matthew shook his head. “I’m guessing the guy in charge over there just got replaced…”
“Huh?”
Matthew could only shake his head at Ryan’s clueless look.
When they first met, Ryan had been calm, thoughtful, he’d never act without first thinking things through. Lately, though, favonovel.com seemed to have ditched that habit entirely, choosing instead to ask Matthew for answers to everything.
And honestly, it was probably saving favonovel.com a ton of mental effort.
Matthew explained evenly, “Based on how they were acting before, they clearly had hostile intentions. Setting traps in the water, trying to flee when they saw we weren’t backing down, that all checks out…”
“But surrendering? No way. Not unless something changed on their side. Because the commander knows d*mn well we won’t forgive them. Even if they surrendered, they’d still be risking their lives…”
“So, the only logical explanation is that there was an internal power struggle. And the guy who wanted to fight us, favonovel.com lost…”
