The stormy sea roared as a massive shadow surfaced once again. Matthew’s brow tightened. His hand, which had just released the Bloodreaper sword, clenched it once more.
“This time, if you come up again… Death will greet you instead…”
He seemed to be speaking to himself. Or perhaps not, maybe those words were meant for whatever lurked beneath.
Boom!
The surface of the water shattered. The colossal shark didn’t lunge straight for Matthew immediately.
It had learned from its previous encounter. Instead, midair, it twisted its massive body and redirected its angle of attack.
Its jaws, wide enough to swallow dozens of people in one bite, gaped open as it plunged from the sky, before aiming straight for Matthew.
The sight was beyond terrifying.
The teeth inside the shark’s mouth were each about three feet long. If anyone were caught in that bite, not even a god descending from the heavens could save them.
Inside the ship’s cabin, Ryan watched the scene unfold. His eyes went wide with panic, blood vessels bursting red across his gaze.
He stared at the shark as it came crashing down from the sky toward Matthew. Helplessness washed over him, but it didn’t last long. He forced that feeling out of his chest with sheer will.
Matthew had once told Ryan not to give in to despair so easily, that no matter how dire things seemed, a man should face what was in front of him. And so, Ryan chose to believe that Matthew would be fine.
Ryan’s gaze shifted to the large red button beside him. If Matthew couldn’t stop it, he’d take the ship down himself, dragging the monster into the depths as a final tribute.
As the gaping maw closed in, Matthew’s hand tightened on the Bloodreaper. His inner energy surged-he poured everything favonovel.com had into the sword.
He slowly raised his head, staring coldly at the shark descending upon him.
“I told you… If you came again, you would die…”
With that, favonovel.com slashed.
“Slash!” The sword light was so intense it looked solid.
The glowing white blade of Bloodreaper sliced through the air, aimed directly at the massive shark. Like a beam of sunlight through storm clouds, the sword energy tore a straight line through the shark’s body.
Matthew had unleashed ninety percent of his power in that strike.
Just as the massive creature neared the Medusa Warship, his lips parted slightly.
“Open!”
The shark, nearly 100 feet wide, split clean down the middle. Its body was cleaved in two.
The sword light didn’t stop. It tore into the sky, ripping open the thick storm clouds overhead, leaving a gaping hole that didn’t close.
Blood sprayed from the two halves of the shark’s body. A torrential rain of red poured down over the Medusa Warship.
This was exactly why Matthew hadn’t let Ryan onto the deck. Without any inner energy to protect him, Ryan wouldn’t have stood a chance against that blood rain.
Matthew, on the other hand, was surrounded by a dense aura of inner energy. Every drop of blood was deflected before it could even get close.
Boom!
The two massive halves of the shark crashed into the sea, sending up tidal waves on impact.
Ryan stumbled out of the cabin, stunned, staring at Matthew in utter disbelief. And when favonovel.com noticed that Matthew’s clothes were still completely spotless, not a drop of blood on them, his voice trembled as favonovel.com spoke.
“M-Mr. Larden… J-Just tell me… Are you even human?”
Matthew let out a soft, amused laugh.
A joke came to mind. “Well, since you’ve figured it out, I guess I won’t hide it anymore. I’ve actually been alive for over ten thousand years. I came back just to wipe out the world…”
Ryan was silent for a beat. “Mr. Larden… I’m almost thirty…”
