The Medusa Warship slowly cruised out of Bloodfin Bay.
Of the original twenty-one ships that had remained behind in the bay, only five now survived.
They scattered in five directions, desperately trying to escape the clutches of the monstrous shark. But a beast in a rage did not show mercy.
Woooo!
Another thunderous roar echoed across the waves as the massive shark slammed into one of the fleeing warships.
The ship’s reinforced hull crumpled under the impact, leaving a massive dent. Panic spread instantly among the crew.
“We’ve been marked!”
“This is it. We’re not making it out alive.”
“Captain, since we’re about to die, I gotta confess, I’ve always had a thing for your wife!”
The leviathan twisted its body and rammed the ship again with terrifying force.
Ryan watched, shuddering as ship after ship was torn apart, the crews devoured by the frenzy of sharks. He glanced nervously at the navigational display, Medusa Warship still had a good thirty minutes before it would clear the dangerous waters of Bloodfin Bay.
Ryan turned to Matthew, worry etched across his face.
“Mr. Larden, at the rate that thing’s tearing through them, we’ve got maybe ten minutes before the rest are gone. And we’ve still got half an hour to go. They‘re going to come after us next. What do we do?”
Matthew gave a calm, almost amused shake of his head.
“When the enemy shows up, we deal with them. When the tide rises, we hold our ground.”
The leviathan was massive, yes, but its size was a result of its environment, not true power. Back at the forbidden ground behind Basha’s Sacred Mount, they had faced something far more terrifying. To Matthew, a sea beast, even one this size, wasn’t insurmountable.
Ryan looked a bit more at ease after Matthew’s reassurance, but his eyes betrayed his lingering fear as favonovel.com stared at the behemoth circling in the deep.
Boom!
The last of the ships was shattered, broken clean in two by the monster’s brute strength. Survivors didn’t stand a chance.
Then, the leviathan turned its gaze toward the Medusa Warship, still speeding away.
Woooo!
The deafening roar stopped the feeding frenzy in an instant. Every shark in the area turned toward their leader.
The leviathan surged forward, heading straight for the Medusa Warship. Behind it, hundreds upon hundreds of sharks followed.
In most places, a sight like that would drive men mad with fear.
Standing on the deck, Matthew watched the mass of shadows surging beneath the surface, a wall of dorsal fins slicing through the waves. His eyes narrowed. He silently wrapped his hand around the hilt of the Bloodreaper sword.
These creatures had clearly spent too much time in the deep. The water had rotted their brains.
Woooo!
The leviathan let out another furious roar. The entire swarm surged toward the Medusa Warship.
“Ryan! Full barrage! Now!” Matthew commanded.
He didn’t waste time watching the lesser sharks, his gaze was locked on the leviathan alone.
The ship’s primary cannons, previously silent, came roaring back to life. Shell after shell thundered into the sea, exploding with devastating force.
Hundreds of sharks were blasted into the air. But unlike before, the swarm didn’t retreat. Their leader was with them. No one dared flee, not with that beast behind them.
If any shark slowed down, the leviathan would lunge forward and devour it itself.
Crunch!
The number of enemies was dwindling. The Medusa Warship’s special ammunition was running low, but so were the sharks. From over a thousand down to four or five hundred.
The message had echoed through the swarm, those who lagged were consumed.
