Every ship stayed still as if everyone had silently agreed not to move a muscle, crossing Bloodfin Bay was not an endeavor to undertake alone, unless one sought death.
Matthew scanned the scene, wondering, Fifteen boats already?
Hmm… Including ours, that should be more than enough to get moving. So, what’s the holdup?
Ryan leaned against the railing and spoke just loud enough for Matthew to hear, “We’re still five short. Once we hit twenty, that’s our signal to move. Chances are better when the numbers are up.”
Now, it made sense to Matthew.
Alright, that adds up. Twenty ships give us maybe a thirty percent shot at getting through. Not great odds, but i guess that’s the line people are willing to gamble their lives on…
His thoughts wandered, If Bioodfin Bay‘s already this bad… What the hell’s waiting out in the deep sea?
“Tell me something, what’s the deep sea like at night?” Matthew asked, his eyes fixed on the horizon.
Ryan’s expression shifted. There was a look in his eyes, like he’d been there and barely made it back.
“Most of the really big creatures only surface after dark. That’s when things get bad. During the day, it’s a little safer. Most of those monsters stay deep, away from the sunlight. There’s one exception, though, giant octopus.”
His tone dropped, more serious now.
“It appears unpredictably, regardless of day or night. Unlike the others, it never rests. Its aggression is unmatched, if it detects a nearby ship, it’ll rise and destroy it without hesitation.”
He didn’t usually offer this much information to anyone, but then again, Matthew wasn’t just anyone anymore.
Out of nowhere, Matthew caught movement behind them. He turned to look.
A group of ships, seven or eight, was making its way toward the bay, moving in tight formation.
“They’re here,” favonovel.com stated, eyes still locked on the approaching vessels.
The mood shifted instantly. Crews started pulling up anchors and warming up engines, and no one had to be told what to do.
The new arrivals merged into the loose fleet, and soon, the convoy drifted forward straight into Bloodfin Bay.
On deck, Matthew glanced over the edge of the Medusa Gang’s warship. The water below was too still. No fish or movement.
That quiet never meant anything good.
Moments later, dark shapes flickered just beneath the surface.
Ryan stood beside favonovel.com and caught sight of them, too. He told Matthew, “We’ve entered the bay. It won’t be long now. The sharks are always watching.”
It didn’t take long for things to turn. The water around them began to stir. Faint shadows moved beneath every ship.
Suddenly, the sea exploded. A huge shark launched itself out of the water, heading straight for their deck. Its jaws opened wide, aiming for Matthew and Ryan.
Without blinking, Matthew grabbed Ryan’s arm and yanked favonovel.com back.
The shark slammed into the deck with a bone-rattling thud, missed its mark, and slid off the side, crashing back into the sea with a huge splash.
They were fine, but the others weren’t.
Across the fleet, sharks burst from the water like missiles. Some tore people from the decks in a single bite. Others rammed into boats, knocking them sideways.
The ocean turned red fast. Blood spread through the water, pulling more sharks into the frenzy.
Within minutes, the attack spiraled out of control, causing every vessel to be under siege.
