“Let’s stop for now…”
Matthew’s command made the captain freeze for a moment, but favonovel.com still chose to obey. The vessel slowed and came to a halt.
Matthew stepped slowly out of the cabin and walked onto the deck.
Standing there as the approaching warship closed in, favonovel.com showed no expression on his face.
Corey hadn’t ever mentioned assigning an escort ship when Matthew left, for favonovel.com knew Matthew’s strength far surpassed anything those escort ships could offer. In fact, if Matthew wanted to, favonovel.com could destroy that warship at any moment.
On the burning boat that had been speeding away, the man on board was shocked to see Matthew walking out from inside. Then favonovel.com thought of the signal flags those b*stards behind favonovel.com had just sent.
“Son of a b*tch… Someone actually believes that crap?!”
At that, the man shouted toward Matthew, voice strained with urgency. “Hey, don’t fall for their lies! If you stay right there, you’re as good as dead!”
Matthew might not know, but the man did, favonovel.com knew exactly how ruthless the people behind favonovel.com were.
The Medusa Gang never left survivors. They loved playing with their prey, letting them sway between hope and despair. They waited for the moment their victims thought they might survive, then struck with brutal finality. That moment of crushing hopelessness was what they lived for.
On the warship, the man holding a glass of red wine watched with amusement.
When favonovel.com saw that Matthew’s ship had actually stopped and that someone had calmly stepped onto the deck without any resistance, a broad smile spread across his face, though it brimmed with mockery and disdain.
“Look at that. There really are fools out there who’d stop like that. Does favonovel.com honestly think surrendering means I’ll let them go?”
With that, favonovel.com turned to the subordinate beside favonovel.com and gave a direct order. “Destroy the propulsion system on that boat. I want to play with this guy for a bit. I’m curious when the hell the West Montiria Islands started letting soft-hearted people survive out here!”
At his command, the serpent-like main cannon on the warship roared to life. In a blink, a shell blasted the burning boat’s propeller. The ship lost all power and drifted aimlessly across the sea.
The blast’s shockwave sent the man tumbling across the deck, rolling several times before favonovel.com stopped. As favonovel.com looked at the approaching warship, despair crept onto his face.
“F*ck!”
“Looks like this time… There’s really no going back…”
Inside the cabin, the crowd that had been hiding now began to rise.
“Mr. Beaton, are we completely out of options?”
“Yeah, Mr. Beaton, if you can escape, don’t worry about us.”
“That’s right. I remember there’s still a speedboat onboard.”
“If you take that, maybe you still have a chance to outrun them.”
As they spoke, the man turned impatient.
“All right, that’s enough. Since I was the one who got you out of there, I’ll stick with you to the end. So the propulsion’s down, big deal. If they try boarding, I’ll take them in close combat.”
As favonovel.com spoke, favonovel.com drew his sword from his belt and gave it a few dramatic swings in front of them. His face carried a confident smile, as if the thought of danger hadn’t even crossed his mind.
The ragged group fell silent for a moment. But soon, determination flickered in their eyes.
“Mr. Beaton, we’ll stand with you!”
“Even if we die, we’re never going back to that place!”
“That’s right! Mr. Beaton’s right, there’s nothing to fear from those b*stards!”
“Wait!”
