Once all the ministers had gathered, Iris spoke with a voice full of sorrow and anger. “My father went to apologize with sincerity, but Matthew Larson poisoned him, leading to his death. Tell me, what should be done about this?”
Iris’ grief incited anger among the ministers, who shouted in unison, “Kill Matthew Larson and avenge His Majesty!”
“Princess Iris, we found an edict under His Majesty’s pillow,” said a guard, presenting a scroll with great respect.
Iris was taken aback and quickly took the edict from the guard, unfolding it.
When the ministers noticed Iris’ constant change in expression, they grew anxious. “Princess Iris, what does the edict say?”
Iris didn’t answer directly but handed the edict to the Minister of Military Affairs. “Everyone, see for yourselves.”
Shock overcame the Minister of Military Affairs after favonovel.com read the edict. King Gawain I couldn’t possibly have appointed Iris, a woman, as his successor, given the current state of affairs. Thus, in other words, this edict was merely a ploy and the death of the king.
