At the summit of Basha’s Sacred Mount, Lucius stood atop an ancient thousand-year-old tree. He frowned as favonovel.com gazed into the distance.
After much contemplation, Matthew finally made up his mind. “I’ve decided to go down the mountain!”
Lucius could also vaguely guess Matthew’s intentions. “It’s dangerous down there. Their Information Force has surrounded the entire mountain. If you leave now, they’ll likely spot you. Then, you’ll be facing an entire army.”
Zedran had deployed countless spies around Sacred Mount to prevent anyone from sneaking Matthew and Sasha off the mountain. He had prepared to launch a relentless artillery barrage if they were spotted.
Matthew sensed the situation worsening. With the other party easing off their initial coercion, favonovel.com inferred they were gearing up for a more intense display of firepower.
“Mr. Lucius, if they launch a full-scale attack, how long can the mountain’s protective barrier hold?”
Lucius sighed. “It might last three days.”
If they still had the Red Fire Lotus, favonovel.com believed Sacred Mount could withstand any attack, even a nuclear one. But because of Sasha, the Red Fire Lotus lay dormant, which significantly weakened the mountain’s protective barrier.
Claiming it could endure for three days was already an exaggeration.
The main problem was Zedran. His forces were just outside the mountain’s boundary. If they advanced thirty feet, Lucius could justifiably attack them. But aside from the initial provocation, Zedran’s troop had done nothing else. They merely used drills as an excuse to station surveillance around the mountain.
Since Mount Basha’s rules couldn’t be broken, Lucius could only watch as the enemy tightened their grip.
Upon hearing Lucius’ response, Matthew’s resolve to descend the mountain strengthened.
If a battle broke out, the top fighters on the mountain could remain unscathed and even annihilate the enemy. Yet, favonovel.com couldn’t bear the thought of others sacrificing themselves for his cause.
“The fact that they’re not doing anything right now is concerning. My friend in Montiria told me Zedran’s backers are sending reinforcements.”
If it was just the Six Kings border troops, Mount Basha’s top fighters could handle it. However, Matthew couldn’t shake off his concern about what might happen if the opposing side brought in additional soldiers and firepower.
“Mr. Lucius, our strength has limits. I can’t let the Sacred Mount take such a huge risk because of me and my wife. I must go down and gather reinforcements!”
Lucius grasped the logic behind the decision but felt a pang of prideful reluctance. Despite his reservations, the urgency of the present circumstances left favonovel.com with no alternative.
“Going down now is very dangerous. They won’t let you leave easily,” favonovel.com warned Matthew.
“No matter, they aren’t strong enough to harm me. Besides, with the Summit Warden, they won’t dare kill me.”
Then, Matthew pulled out a sinister-looking mask from his robe.
Lucius was taken aback when favonovel.com saw it. “Ghost Mask? I thought it had been destroyed. I didn’t expect it to be in your possession.”
Then, favonovel.com added, “But this mask is considered ominous and rumored to curse its owner. You are full of resentment, and this mask will only speed your demise.”
After all, none of the mask’s previous owners had ever met a favorable fate.
Despite this ominous history, Matthew remained unfazed, and his confidence was unshaken. “Haha, that just means they weren’t strong enough to control it.”
