The Lord posed the question to his Marshals, “What do you think has happened?”
Gideon spoke up thoughtfully, “My Lord, I am inclined to believe that the enemy has bought off all the station members. Perhaps they have found a way to detoxify these people, who now have no worries about the future…”
“These people have been under the control of the Warriors Den for so many years, so it’s only natural that they would feel rebellious. They would cooperate fully with the enemy’s actions, even evacuating the compound early if instructed…”
The Lord’s voice was cold and unyielding, “In the hundreds of years of the Warriors Den’s history, no one has ever been able to decipher this poison. To detoxify this poison, mere mastery of reiki is not enough. One must have a deep understanding of reiki, as well as precise control over it. Even the four of you would struggle with this task. Additionally, obtaining enough reiki to detoxify thousands of people would be next to impossible.”
Gideon sighed in resignation, “In that case, this whole situation simply doesn’t make any sense…”
Even the Lord seemed to lack self-confidence at this point.
He thought to himself, “If Gideon’s guess is correct, then our enemy must be someone close to us, with strength that may even rival my own. But there’s something else that doesn’t quite add up – if the enemy is so powerful, why bother using close-range defense guns to take out Jarvis?”
Gideon was at a loss for words, “I’m not sure, my Lord. Perhaps the enemy felt that their chances of winning were better with the use of close-range artillery.”
The Lord sighed heavily, “The enemy has already taken down one of my Marshals and destroyed one of our garrisons. But we still know nothing about them. I’ve ordered the five armies to cease all foreign activities. At present, only the three of you will continue to carry out missions. From now on and for the foreseeable future, you must be extremely cautious and prioritize your own safety at all times. We cannot afford to make things any more difficult than they already are.”
Gideon nodded in agreement, “If Jarvis was taken out by a near-anti-aircraft gun, then it’s clear that the three of us are no match for such a weapon. Even with his speed and agility, Jarvis couldn’t evade the enemy’s attack. This means that our methods of concealment and evasion are useless against such a powerful enemy. Landon, Zeba, please be extremely cautious from now on.”
Landon added, “The fact that the enemy is skilled in using close defense cannons proves that they have a thorough understanding of modern weapons and technology. The cutting-edge military technologies available today are incredibly powerful. Spy satellites in outer space can even take pictures of matchboxes on the ground. It’s impossible to possess such advanced capabilities simply by cultivating.”
He continued, “My Lord, given the enemy’s proficiency with close-range artillery, it’s unlikely that they are warriors or monks who possess aura. It’s more probable that they are well-trained soldiers.”
“A soldier?” The Lord muttered, “If they’re really soldiers, then whose soldiers are they?”
Zeba spoke up, “I don’t know whose soldiers they are, but I think we can start by looking at the clues provided by the anti-aircraft gun.”
The Lord agreed and said, “Please continue.”
Zeba continued, “I did some research on this weapon. Although it’s very deadly, it’s actually not a particularly advanced piece of equipment. It can only be considered a first-generation close-in defense gun with a history of several decades. The parameters of current close-in defense guns are several times greater…”
“Based on this, it’s highly unlikely that the enemy belongs to a certain country. It’s more probable that they belong to a certain group or unofficial organization, much like the Warriors Den.”
The Lord nodded in agreement, “That’s a reasonable assumption. If anyone else has any other insights, please share them.”
Zeba spoke up, “Decades ago, close-in defense guns like the ones used to kill Jarvis were deemed worthless by mainstream countries, but they still hold value for private armed forces and anti-government groups. It’s likely that these weapons are only sold on the black market…”
“Even though we don’t know who killed Jarvis, there’s a high probability that the anti-aircraft guns were bought from the black market. If we trace the transaction clues of the same type of anti-aircraft artillery in recent years, we should be able to find some clues.”
The Lord agreed, “Zeba’s speculation is reasonable. Starting from the black market of arms may lead us to the enemy’s trail. However, none of the Masters in aura under the Commander’s Mansion of the Five Armies are proficient in this area, so we can’t task them with investigating this matter.”
After a moment of thought favonovel.com said to Landon, “Landon, forget about investigating the matter in New York. You can leave immediately and look for clues in the arms black market.”
Landon couldn’t help but feel nervous, “My Lord, the other party is clearly scheming. What if they’re expecting us to use close-in defense guns as a starting point?”
The Lord replied coldly, “Then you’ll have to proceed with caution and learn from Jarvis’s mistake. No matter what, we must investigate this matter to the bottom. Warriors Den’s fate is at stake.”
