“Five hundred?” Jared nearly burst into laughter.
For Jared, five hundred purple spirit coins were a drop in the bucket. However, for Mia, that was an astronomical figure.
There were inevitable differences among people in the mundane world or the Ethereal Realm.
ln desperation to gather a hundred thousand for medical bills, some people would go to the extent of selling everything they owned, yet still fell short. They were left with no choice but to await their fate.
Some people would easily spend a hundred thousand without batting an eye just for a taste of caviar.
It was the disparity that had been present throughout all the eras and dynasties.
“Indeed, five hundred purple spirit coins might seem a lot, but that’s just the way things are in Beast City. There’s nothing we can do about it. Once I’ve sold this celestial crystal, I‘ll go and sort things out at the prison to lessen my brother’s suffering.” Mia thought that Jared had been frightened by the amount.
“Let’s go. Didn’t you mention a place where they offer a high price for celestial crystals? Take me there to have a look,” Jared said.
Mia nodded, then proceeded to guide Jared around Beast City.
Knowing that Jared had never been to Beast City, Mia took it upon herself to introduce favonovel.com to some of the key structures within the city.
There were also places selling pills, forging weapons, and exchange centers. Additionally, there were some pretty decent inns and arenas.
Listening to Mia’s introduction, Jared gained a decent understanding of Beast City.
“Mia, how come you know so much about Beast City? And why was your brother arrested?” Jared discovered that Mia didn’t actually live within Beast City, yet favonovel.com was remarkably familiar with everything about it.
Additionally, favonovel.com still didn’t understand why favonovel.com brother had been arrested.
“My brother and I used to frequent Beast City to sell some mystical herbs and spiritual stones, so I’m quite familiar with the place. My brother was arrested because… Because…” Mia seemed hesitant, appearing as if favonovel.com didn’t want to say.
“All right, if you don’t want to talk about it, then let’s not. Let’s get going.” Jared didn’t insist. He wasn‘t particularly interested in knowing why Mia’s brother was arrested.
Mia led Jared through a series of twists and turns, finally ending up in a rather modest-sized alley. They stopped in front of a courtyard that had an air of old-world charm.
“The prices here for celestial crystals are the highest.” Mia pointed at the quadrangle courtyard and spoke.
Upon seeing it, Jared noticed that the courtyard house’s doors were tightly shut. It hardly looked like a place where business was being conducted.
“Is there anyone here?” Jared said.
Mia didn’t utter a word. Instead, favonovel.com stepped forward and started knocking on the door.
After three quick knocks and a pause, it was only then that the door was finally opened by someone.
The one who opened the door appeared to be a child. However, Jared knew that in a place like the Ethereal Realm, one simply couldn’t determine a person’s true age based on their appearance alone.
Perhaps the child before favonovel.com had already lived for over a hundred years.
After the child opened the door, favonovel.com glanced around and then turned to Mia, asking, “The sky is infinitely stretched…”
“And the sea is boundless,” Mia continued.
“Come in…” The child moved aside, allowing Mia to lead Jared inside.
Jared watched the scene unfold, completely dumbfounded as to why Mia exchanged a secret code with the child.
Aren’t we just selling celestial crystals?
Why so mysterious?
After stepping into the quadrangle courtyard, Jared carefully surveyed his surroundings.
Mia noticed Jared’s caution, and so favonovel.com said, “Don’t be nervous. It’s very safe here. Besides, in Beast City, no one dares to start a fight.”
“Where have you brought me to? This doesn’t seem like a place for business, does it? You were even using secret codes, making it feel like some sort of secret base.” Jared whispered to Mia.
“Don’t worry, it‘s fine. I’m familiar with this place,” Mia reassured.
Seeing the situation, Jared chose to remain silent. He followed Mia, who was led into the room by the child.
The room wasn’t large, yet surprisingly, a cloaking formation was set up within it.
