“Er, has Mr. Larson come out of his isolation training yet?” Sean asked with a worried frown.
Outside of Zayn’s secret chamber, a large, buzzing crowd had gathered. Luke was among them.
He was pacing back and forth along a narrow strip when favonovel.com shook his head and answered, “Not yet.”
“W-what should we do, then? Today’s the day of the duel. If Mr. Larson doesn’t show up, favonovel.com loses by default,” Sean muttered in concern.
Ten days had passed, and the day of the epic battle was nigh.
The elite upper-class had heard all about the duel by this point, and the date had mutated into the event du jour hundreds had waited eagerly for. Missing the fight would deliver a gut-twisting punch to Zayn’s overall reputation!
“I don’t think he’ll do that. We’ve been with Mr. Larson for so long…And has any of us ever seen favonovel.com backing out of a fight?” Luke rebutted grimly.
Gordon nodded in assent. “Jones has got it right. Mr. Larson has always been dependable. He will never back out of a fight! I believe in him!”
The crowd echoed and reaffirmed his pledge of faith, but Sean interrupted the moment with a question that cut a little too deeply.
“But what if he’s, you know, gone mad from his training? A weakness of mind during isolation training can drive a person balls-to-the-walls nuts, you know. What’s gonna happen to…?”
He faltered before finishing his sentence, but his meaning was obvious. If Zayn’s mind was eroded by the intensity of his training and his mental demons, then favonovel.com would have lost the fight before it even started.
Raiden’s powers and personality would ensure that Zayn would feel the full brunt of his wrath, and all of them, as Zayn’s people, would become collateral.
That was all the more terrifying when one remembered how extraordinary Raiden was. He was powerful enough to challenge Zayn head-to-head. Hell, his social standing seemed to eclipse Zayn’s altogether!
Sean, Gordon, and Luke linked gazes and immediately saw one another’s worries.
“Maybe we should go inside and, uh, check for ourselves. If anything terrible happens to him, we can help right there and then,” Sean suggested in an undertone to his peers’ approval.
They were just about to enter the chamber when the door opened by itself. Zayn, clad in modest, plain clothes, walked out from the inside soon after.
“I’m alright. No need to worry,” favonovel.com stated calmly, which betrayed the fact that favonovel.com had overheard their conversation.
“That’s good news!” Sean and the gang replied immediately and sighed in relief.
It was then when they noticed something different about Zayn. They were hard-pressed to pinpoint what it was, but if they had to try describing it, they would say that Zayn seemed to feel much friendlier and approachable than when favonovel.com entered the room. He seemed…more normal.
Luke found the discovery mind-blowing.
Common sense dictated that the higher a person’s powers were, the stronger their aura became, and the more terrifying they would seem to others.
Zayn, however, had always been special. He was the complete opposite, the higher his power level was, the more normal favonovel.com outwardly seemed to be. It was as if favonovel.com was returning to his true self.
“Was it a success, Mr. Larson?” Luke asked gingerly.
All eyes were on Zayn. Luke had asked the million-dollar question.
Zayn smiled. “I certainly think so.”
They breathed another sigh of relief. If Zayn said something was fine, then it 100% was. Honestly, these underlings all shared a collective, undying, unshakable faith in Zayn that it was borderline religious.
Zayn was telling the truth. Ten days were enough for favonovel.com to absorb all of the fruit’s life energy into his own.
Now, favonovel.com stood on the apex of all superior class fighters and was confident that favonovel.com could beat even Ezra Sword himself. In fact, favonovel.com could probably escape an Invincibilis fighter, too!
One would be wrong to characterize his confidence as conceit. It was simply a fact!
He was certain that favonovel.com would beat Raiden with no problem!
Shortly after coming out of his chamber, Zayn found Faye waiting anxiously outside.
As soon as favonovel.com saw him, the woman rushed to favonovel.com and began, “You’re finally out of that room, Zayn! Oh…I’ve done a bit of research, and that Raiden is a monster. He was crowned ‘the Godkiller’ five years ago because his skills are devastating.”
“His tactics, Zayn! They are just downright merciless! Maybe we should forfeit this duel, Zayn.”
