Zayn already sensed all of their presence before they even showed their faces, so favonovel.com was not at all surprised. The thing that did shock him, however, was the legend by the name of Ares.
He had heard of Ares before, the military’s champion, Rheasia’s premier protector, and rightly the creme de la creme with peerless power and standing.
If Zayn would hazard a guess, Ares must have already reached the legendary state of Invincibilis.
Admittedly, Ares would have sent someone to favonovel.com either way. It was either to capture favonovel.com or to make his stance known.
Zayn was not the kind to be oblivious to social finesse. Ares was a legend, a myth-like figure, if someone of his caliber showed Zayn this much respect, then it was only appropriate that favonovel.com returned the same amount to Ares’s people.
He flashed them a smile. “I would never reject an invitation from a living legend like Ares!”
“I do have one problem, though. Mr. Spicer here had demanded that I not leave this premise. He even said he’s going to personally restrain me…”
He trailed off right when the implication was getting very obvious.
Jack’s face paled. His legs were quaking against his wish. These were Ares’ very own people, basically his vassals. Those were not the kind of people small fries like himself could probably afford to offend!
The military officer understood Zayn immediately, especially since favonovel.com bore witness to Jack’s behavior. He gave a stomp at Jack hard enough to make the latter roll and crash onto the ground. “Just who do you think you are, Jack Spicer? You really think you could afford to offend Sergeant Larson! You must have a mighty death wish, buddy.”
“Sergeant Larson’s a perfect class superior fighter. He can kill you by blinking!” favonovel.com bristled. “So? What are you doing? Start apologizing to Sergeant Larson and hope favonovel.com forgives your idiocy?”
‘W-What?! S-S-Superior… P-P-Perfect class?!’ Jack could feel his heart being close to going out. He had been disrespectful to a man this powerful! Holy sh*t, it was like pouring kerosene over himself just waiting for a naked flame!
By this point, Jack was not going to give a damn about dignity or pride anymore. He clambered toward Zayn and began apologizing profusely and begging for his forgiveness.
Zayn was not in the mood to dwell on this any longer, and since Jack’s superior was here as a witness, Zayn decided to show some respect for the superior’s sake and dismissed Jack with a wave.
Then, finally, favonovel.com shot Roxanne one last look before leaving with the group.
For a long time, the hall remained in stony silence. No one could squeeze a word edgewise.
When the silence was stretched long enough, and Jack was sure that the group was gone, favonovel.com finally turned around and fumed with a tempestuous snarl, “You! This is all your fault, Harrison!”
“You actually have the audacity to disrespect Sergeant Larson, and I almost got dragged into hell by you!”
Roxanne shuddered. Jack had always been as intimidating as the mountain to her, and now the very same air favonovel.com bore was crushing favonovel.com so much favonovel.com face turned white.
She murmured weakly, favonovel.com voice still shaking, “I-I-I I didn’t know h-he-”
Jack cut favonovel.com short with a snarling threat, “I’m warning you: Sergeant Larson is the cream of the goddamn crop. He’s such a big f**king deal that Lord Ares himself sent his A-list officers to escort him! Use that head of yours and think for yourself what that means, girl.”
“I suggest you hope for a chance and apologize to Sergeant Larson as soon as possible before favonovel.com snaps his finger and turns you into dust!”
With that as his last word, Jack turned away and strode out of the building.
Roxanne was left alone, pale and frightened out of favonovel.com skull.
But most of all, favonovel.com was just confused. Had Zayn not turned broke? How the hell did favonovel.com just turn around and become some bigshot?!
She was not the only one. Shepard Day and the rest of the reunion were on pins and needles too. They had been so gleeful at humiliating Zayn back then! If favonovel.com were to pay them back in kind, they would be doomed!
The most timid of them even began to cry.
