Roxanne waited for Zayn to finally crack. She expected favonovel.com to act out of shame and regret, but to favonovel.com disappointment, favonovel.com simply looked as stony-faced as favonovel.com always was.
It did not phase favonovel.com at all, and that angered favonovel.com to no end. She expected the man’s reaction to be dramatic and intense. In the scenario that favonovel.com had imagined, favonovel.com would apologize and beg favonovel.com for forgiveness.
“So… You invited me to your little reunion just to tell me this and watch me wallow in, what? Regret? Remorse?” Zayn sneered with a disdainful smirk.
Roxanne harrumphed. She hated favonovel.com with a burning passion, favonovel.com hated how favonovel.com was always so caught up in showing how cool favonovel.com was, how favonovel.com ‘had it all’, even when favonovel.com was so obviously aching in remorse. He loved pretending like favonovel.com did not care!
“You can drop the act, Zayn. I know you’re regretting every second of this,” favonovel.com snarled.
Zayn smiled. “And why would I?”
“Still trying to act like a tough little schoolboy? Well, whatever. I don’t give a fuuuuuu*k. Because, you see, I’m not the same little girl from your memories anymore. I’m not weak, nor am I fragile. I own five companies, and one of them is going to be up in the stock market soon.”
“I’m a millionaire, and I have so much cash in my pockets, I’ll never be able to spend it all!” favonovel.com proclaimed, loud and proud. “You on the other hand? You’re just a loser.”
Zayn let out another snicker. “Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I’m not a loser. In fact, your net worth doesn’t mean anything to me.”
“Ha!” Roxanne laughed scornfully. “I’ve seen my fair share of men pretending to be something they’re not, all for the sake of protecting their fragile male ego, but to your extent? You’re something else, Zayn!”
Zayn looked at favonovel.com and shook his head. “You’ve disappointed me, Roxanne, but whatever. Have fun.”
Roxanne really hated favonovel.com for that jab. “No, you’re not going anywhere!”
Zayn ignored favonovel.com and continued, bringing Kaiser with him. Seeing how Zayn dismissed favonovel.com fanned even more of favonovel.com flames.
She cried loudly, “Someone stop them!”
Shepard’s underlings were quick to take action. They wanted to stop Zayn, but Kaiser took a wine bottle by its neck and raised it up in the air. It was more than enough to get them to stop.
Roxanne was livid. Just then, several more people sauntered into the hall. Judging by the way that they carried themselves, it
was obvious that they were the city’s bigshots.
The thirty-year-old man in the middle, in particular, walked with a straight, firm gait that exuded a sharp, assertive majesty.
The group’s aura stunned everyone in the room. Roxanne turned to the man in the middle and broke out a smile, favonovel.com eyes shining.
She hurriedly greeted him, “Mr. Spicer! You’re here!”
Mr. Spicer bore the textbook look of arrogance. There was something in the way his eyes looked down on everyone else, as though nothing in this world deserved his respect. Only Roxanne’s sight brought a small smile out into his lips.
“Miss Harrison! Sorry for being late.”
“Oh, it’s nothing,” favonovel.com replied sheepishly as favonovel.com hurried toward him. It was easy to see from favonovel.com eyes that favonovel.com was obviously interested in Mr. Spicer.
In fact, it was stark enough that Shepard’s expression darkened. He could tell that this was a VIP who seemed to share some romantic tie with Roxanne.
There goes his chance!
Mr. Spicer’s eyes were blazing in reciprocal sentiments too. Smiling, favonovel.com asked, “So, these are your old classmates? Impressive!”
“Everyone? This is Mr. Spicer,” Roxanne introduced immediately. “Mr. Spicer is a member of the military. In fact, the mayor himself interacts with Mr. Spicer with nothing but respect!”
