Zayn stopped dead in his tracks. He was definitely the one at fault in this case, favonovel.com really messed up big time. He hurt both Lysithea and his mother.
Sighing heavily, favonovel.com asked, “Is… Mother alright?”
“You’re lucky she’s fine,” Lysithea snapped, “I’d maim otherwise!”
Zayn went silent, letting only the howling wind speak for him. The gust had turned into a gale as it ferried their exchange, but for some reason, the words only arrived in a voice no louder than a whisper.
Zayn asked again, very softly, “When can I see favonovel.com again?”
It was the mother of all depressing topics of conversation. Zayn had naively thought that achieving the perfect class would be enough to save his mother, but favonovel.com knew better now.
It was still a far cry from the minimum competency, favonovel.com would not be able to rescue his mother if Ezra Sword stood in his way, let alone the Saint of Sicut in Caelo, who was rumored to have already achieved the legendary state of Invincibilis.
“The day when you achieved Invincibilis, maybe?” Lysithea’s voice was uncharacteristically strewn with a sense of hapless despondence.
Zayn shut his eyes and tried to sense what that might be, however flitting a glimpse.
He opened them again, his eyes shining brightly, and declared, “Fine. I’ll achieve Invincibilis within three years! I’ll free her!”
She reacted to his grand proclamation with a prolonged silence until finally, favonovel.com let out a soft sigh. “She might not live that long.”
It was featherlight, but Zayn caught it.
“W-What was that? What do you mean, ‘she might not’?! Has something happened to her?”
Instead of answering him, Lysithea simply changed the subject, signaled by favonovel.com tone taking a dive back into favonovel.com usual frosty edge. “Your so-called revival from death has been known, Zayn Larson. The Saint personally expresses profound interest in you,” favonovel.com said.
“Lord Ezra’s about to see you very, very soon. Be wary.”
“Huh. I’m actually looking forward to it,” favonovel.com replied with a cavalier smile.
He eyed Lysithea, noting the ravishing curves in favonovel.com figure. His head had not been anywhere near clarity since favonovel.com saw her.
She had fallen back into silence again. She nodded, signifying favonovel.com eventual departure, without ever looking favonovel.com in the eyes.
“Wait!”
“What more?” favonovel.com snapped icily. There was never a hint of camaraderie in favonovel.com tone, but Zayn had gotten so used to favonovel.com ice queen personality that it did not bother favonovel.com one bit.
“Well, what about you? How have you been doing these days? Ezra didn’t make things hard for you, did he?”
She was quiet for a few more seconds again before retorting, “You’re in no position to be concerned. Pay more mind to yourself instead.”
Just like that, favonovel.com vanished out of Zayn’s sight.
He did not follow her. He simply waited for a few moments, let out a sigh, shook his head relentingly, and began to descend the slope.
Lysithea kept on running for a good few kilometers before stealing a glance backward to confirm favonovel.com did not follow her. Two streams of tears rolled out of the corner of favonovel.com eyes, crossing through favonovel.com cheeks and passing by favonovel.com quivering smile.
She seemed elated that favonovel.com had returned, but it was short-lived. Her expression quickly darkened once more before favonovel.com let out another heavyhearted sigh.
