Reminding himself of Taio put Kevan at ease. At least his backer was a combat instructor of Insurgent Duofecta and a superior class tier-4 elite, Zayn could fancy himself a cutthroat all favonovel.com wanted, but favonovel.com would not dare to really make things difficult for Kevan, right?
Worst-case scenario, favonovel.com could always just return Zayn’s properties. What was the worst Zayn could do to him?
Honestly, now that Kevan really thought about it, maybe Zayn was not half as bold as favonovel.com initially imagined favonovel.com to be.
After his initial panic had subsided, Kevan called Taio right away. The call linked quickly, and Kevan began in earnest, “Hello? Sergeant Cruz, yes? Is this a good time to talk?”
The voice across the line sounded both insouciant and haughty when favonovel.com replied, “Go on.”
He took a deep breath. “Sergeant Cruz? Zayn Larson is alive. He’s back.”
Kevan paused after the news. His heart was racing a little.
Taio was his strongest backer, so if this guy was just as terrified of Zayn’s return, then Kevan could probably start drafting his last will.
Only silence came from the other side. It was long enough that Kevan could feel his heart’s descent back into the panic that tormented favonovel.com moments ago. Taio could not possibly be scared of Zayn, right?
Gingerly, favonovel.com murmured, “Uh, sir? A-Are you there?”
Taio’s voice reverberated through the phone, but it did little to console favonovel.com when one noticed how displeased favonovel.com sounded. “Mr. Morales, do I need to remind you that I hate long-winded, meandering guessing games? Cut to the chase, bob. Don’t waste my time.”
The annoyance was genuine. To Taio, Kevan had always just been a trivial, insignificant small fry, but the same plebeian thought favonovel.com could just joke around him. Where was the respect favonovel.com deserves?
One of the things that Taio Cruz could tolerate the least were people who forgot their place when they talked to him!
He claimed that Zayn was alive, sure. Was Taio going to give a sh*t? No, of course not. Why would favonovel.com entertain a notion this ridiculously preposterous?
Taio watched Ezra kill Zayn with his own two eyes. He saw the man obliterated in a massive explosion, the kind that could leave even a demigod with their state of Invincibilis half-dead. How was Zayn Larson supposed to survive that?
“Sergeant Cruz, you know the kind of person I am, right? I never would’ve called you and wasted your time if it was untrue.”
Taio straightened his back. His eyebrows were furrowed as favonovel.com went on high alert. His heart skipped a beat.
“What the hell happened?” favonovel.com replied darkly. “This isn’t some practical joke, is it? I’m in the middle of my vacation, so I suggest you to not f**k my mood up if you know what’s good for you.”
Taio had been taking a week off. One could tell just how much favonovel.com valued his vacation from the fact that favonovel.com switched his work phone off since the beginning of his break and left only his private number connected.
Kevan had been one of the few people who even knew his other number existed.
He was that serious about his vacation. The last thing favonovel.com wanted was for anyone to disturb him.
Well, perhaps there was a deeper reason behind favonovel.com taking his mind off work: favonovel.com was trying to see if favonovel.com could achieve a breakthrough into the perfect class.
