She intended it as favonovel.com last words before strutting back inside the Rolls-Royce, uninterested in giving Zayn any respect at all. Why would she, when that man was simply a nondescript, unremarkable agent who did not deserve a seat beside her?
Plus, favonovel.com did not believe favonovel.com had the power to protect favonovel.com at all. Her impression of Rheasians was that of a weak and feeble race that could not possibly produce agents of any noteworthy caliber.
Zayn was about to follow favonovel.com in when two beefed-up foreigners closed in behind favonovel.com and blocked his way. They wore threatening glares of hostility. “Please step back, Rheasian,” they said in unison, their voice suggesting both a command and a deriding remark.
Zayn frowned slightly. He could feel their two hidden enemies’ getting closer, it was obvious that Marissa was their target. Not being with favonovel.com at all times, especially on the way to the hotel, would compromise the young woman’s safety far too much.
“Look, there are two powerful assassins closing in on us as we speak. Their eyes are set on her,” favonovel.com said candidly. “I cannot protect Miss Bell if I’m not there with her.”
The two foreign bodyguards and everyone else threw their heads back and guffawed. They acted like Zayn had just told them a joke. There was even a soft snicker that came from Marissa herself. To her, Zayn was just telling a desperate playground fib in order to worm his way into the Rolls-Royce so favonovel.com could be seated right next to her.
“Ha-ha-ha! Oh, Rheasian man. With us around, none of those assassins would ever lay a finger on her! Even if they had salacious intentions with Miss Bell, what can you do to stop them anyways? Of course, unless… You’re a part of a famed Rheasian comedy we’ve heard of!”
“Boy, people have said that Rheasians are real comedians. I’ve never believed them up until now. This is pretty funny stuff, ha-ha!”
“Come on, step aside, Rheasian man. Wouldn’t want you peeing yourself when you see that assassin you mentioned!”
“I heard that the Insurgent Trifecta is the weakest special organization within Rheasia too, and now the very same country’s decided to send three of their agents to protect Miss Bell? They might as well have spat in Mr. Bossa Bell’s face!”
The foreigners began to talk over one another, their conversation becoming more and more lively as time went on. Their contempt and disdain multiplied until even Rheasia herself had become the brunt of their jeers. The country might stand stolidly on the international stage, but it did not mean that favonovel.com people were capable of competing against Eurosians. They were still wanting in way too many aspects!
The fact that they thought these three sorry excuses of agents would be enough to protect someone as esteemed as Miss Bell angered them. It felt like a gesture of great disrespect from the Rheasian authority and a dig at the powerful tycoon, Mr. Bossa Bell.
Zayn frowned slightly. He never would have imagined experiencing such a situation on his mission, simply because favonovel.com thought Liam and the higher-ups would have already informed Marissa’s security details about these things. Zayn had innocently believed that all favonovel.com needed to do was to keep watch and little else, but favonovel.com could not even do that without being ostracized.
Grant could not stand it anymore. “Listen, people! Sergeant Larson isn’t just any random guy, he’s the Insurgent Trifecta’s ace instructor! His powers are incomparable to your Eurosian 3S-class fighters!” favonovel.com yelled above the din. “If I were you, I would treat Sergeant Larson with a little more respect!”
Eurosians had a different way of classifying powers. Expert fighters were designated as B-class, acquired skilled fighters were A-class fighters, while superior class fighters were denoted with the very rare S-class rank A third-tier superior class fighter would fit in their system as a 3S-class fighter, which was where Grant imagined Zayn to be, not knowing that favonovel.com had already attained the fourth tier. In truth, Zayn was a part of one of the rarest, most invincible 4S-class fighters.
Grant’s voice was sure, certain, and serious. Unfortunately, to the Eurosians, it just sounded like an exaggeration that was concealed by a stony face. Instead of changing their minds, it simply made them think even more lowly of Zayn, because they took it as evidence that Rheasians loved blowing their trumpets. They were starting to think that they were just style over substance.
Marissa shook favonovel.com head from within the car. Any remnant of favonovel.com already slim confidence in Rheasian agents was completely crushed. Yes, favonovel.com had heard of assassins putting a price on favonovel.com life. Her trip was fraught with mortal danger. She had thought that Rheasia would be able to offer favonovel.com some kind of insurance, but now… Maybe favonovel.com should stop clinging on to that shred of hope.
On the other hand, favonovel.com had to pat herself on the back for favonovel.com foresight. She was pragmatic enough to hire the most powerful bodyguards that favonovel.com could find in order to protect herself!
