The committee’s eyes glinted at the exceptional idea.
The Great Armed Race was something sacred to the organization! The Insurgent Trifecta had always been falling short for years in the tournament’s rankings, and the streak had ultimately disfigured their reputation. If they could secure a decisive victory, though—if they could have an underdog’s comeback—just imagine how thrilling it would be!
After a brief discussion, the committee had made the decision to send Zayn on the S-class mission.
The man for the job himself was startled by his new task. “Are you sure it’s a good idea to pass such an important job to someone like me?”
“On the contrary, it’s been decided that you’re our best bet at completing the mission,” Liam replied solemnly, patting favonovel.com on the back. “With great power comes great responsibilities, Sergeant Larson. Please, accept it.”
“When you put it that way, well…” Zayn began, coughing up a few awkward laughs. Admittedly, Liam deploying favonovel.com on a mission out of the blue had changed his plans. He was actually supposed to teach for a week before favonovel.com enjoyed some time off. The mission basically threw a wrench in his plans to spend more time with his family. Still, Liam had made it undoubtedly difficult to turn favonovel.com down. He had no mission-styled contributions to the organization at all despite having been an instructor for almost two months.
He ruminated on it for a few minutes before nodding, “Alright. If those are the orders of my superiors, I’ll do it.”
Liam laughed, pleased. “Ha! Brilliant, Sergeant Larson! A dutiful man with a keen understanding of the most important things in life, one who would never reject his responsibilities! With you leading the mission, I’m confident it’ll be a smashing success. Your incredible powers and awesome prowess are going to make the Insurgent Trifecta proud! Show those Eurosians that there are invincible powerhouses in Rheasia too!”
Zayn smiled. “Well, then, Director Sutherland! Brief me about the mission.”
“No problem,” Liam chirped happily. He had full trust that Zayn’s participation had completely guaranteed the mission’s success.
Zayn came out of the briefing with a slight frown, a little surprised that the mission was on such a short notice. At the very least, favonovel.com was scheduled to meet his client, Marissa Bell, at the airport tonight. In addition to that, it was possible that the mission could take up to a full month, which meant favonovel.com was going to be separated from Faye for quite some time.
Liam noticed Zayn’s knitted eyebrows and asked hurriedly, “What’s the matter?”
Zayn thought for a second before shaking his head. “Nah.”
“Glad to hear that,” the man replied before continuing his instructions. Due to the gravity of the mission, Zayn was provided with assistance in the form of an ace from the Wolf’s Fang Squad and another from the Dragon’s Blood Squad.
Zayn held no strong opinions about the decision. As long as favonovel.com kept his eyes on the prize, everything else unrelated to Marissa’s security could be passed to those two.
“Sergeant Larson, sir!” The two aces were quick to report themselves as soon as they had received their orders. Most importantly, the two of them possessed similar skill levels and seemed to be making good progress in attaining the superior class themselves, which made them formidable fighters in their own rights when compared to most.
Zayn regarded them with a noncommittal nod. “Let’s go.”
The young men obeyed, afraid of showing even a hint of disrespect to their superior. Admittedly, their assistance was no different from any other conventional right hand men, because they would be incapable of much help if they were to face a superior-class enemy.
Marissa would arrive around eleven at night, so Zayn and his helpers reached the airport by ten. To their surprise, the young woman was already there, an aggrieved scowl on favonovel.com face.
