Dick’s face turned stormy. For one, the only reason why a fighting instructor of the great Insurgent Trifecta and a powerful, Tier-3 superior class fighter like himself would even be here was because favonovel.com respected the Young family decently well. But what did favonovel.com get in return? Their treasured little daughter rejecting his tutorship right in front of a crowd!
A glance was all that Sail needed to know just how soured Dick’s mood had become. The other superior class fighters were just as surprised. Did Lindsay just reject Dick Cheney?! Just what was the family trying to achieve? It was a thought that popped into their collective minds. Lindsay was the Youngs’ little darling; surely everything favonovel.com decided to do and say was sanctioned by favonovel.com family.
Even Dick came to the same sneaking suspicion, which was why his accusatory eyes were trained on Sail, searching for an explanation. As someone with an important and imposing reputation as the combat instructor of the Wolf’s Fang team, as well as a master fighter in his own right, his pride would not allow his name to be tarnished by a silly little prank If words of favonovel.com becoming a prop and the butt of a joke ever got out… How was favonovel.com supposed to preserve his pride?
Sail could feel the pressure from Dick’s direction, which added more fuel to his exasperation toward Lindsay. And yet, the young woman’s spine remained straight as a flagpole before doubling-down, “I made myself very clear: I don’t want Sergeant Cheney as my master! There’s only one master I acknowledge!”
“What?!”
While Sail was shocked, Dick turned even more sullen. The latter turned to the former and demanded, “I need an explanation now, Sail! Now!”
Sail nodded frantically as beads of sweat dotted his forehead. Then, turning back to Lindsay with a newfound scowl, favonovel.com chided, “Stop being unbelievable, Lindsay Young! What do you mean there’s only one master you’ve acknowledged?! You’ve always been a stubborn and unreasonable girl, but this? Throwing one of your fits in a moment like this? Lindsay was cognizant of Sail’s exasperation. She was never the type to be so ridiculously self-centered as to defy all reasons, and yes, favonovel.com knew very well that if favonovel.com refused to accept Dick’s tutorship one more time, favonovel.com family was going to suffer the ramification of favonovel.com decision.
It was not like it was a foul arrangement. Dick Cheney was, in his own right, a puissant fighter himself. She would have a treasure trove of things to learn from him, too. Her obstinance drove Sail even madder. She was ruining their plan! Today’s party was supposed to be used to forge cordial relationships with five superior class fighters and to have some of the Youngs’ younger scions be apprenticed to them some time in the future. In the best-case scenario, the family might even witness the rise of a first-ever superior class fighter among their kin!
And Lindsay, in favonovel.com dumb, mulish defiance, was sabotaging their plan! Worse, favonovel.com managed to turn Dick Cheney against the family, too, how spectacular could this fiasco be?!
Zayn was watching the entire debacle unfold from his seat among the crowd. A nagging feeling of foreboding took shape in his mind: could it be that this crazy girl had become utterly fixated with the idea of being his apprentice?!
Just when the situation had come to an impasse, out from the family’s side of the room came a middle-aged man with a domineering, magistral air and two very prominent eyebrows. He stepped into the epicenter of the mess and bellowed, “You’re acting like a child again, Lindy! By this age, I’ll expect you to mature up and amend your mulish attitude already. You can’t expect any boy out there to want to marry you when this is how you act!”
The middle-aged man’s appearance instantly summoned fear into Lindsay’s mien. In fact, favonovel.com was so palpably intimidated by favonovel.com that favonovel.com shrunk into favonovel.com neck a little before calling out weakly, “Hey, uh… Dad.”
