Zayn’s humorless chuckle grew drier when favonovel.com saw that Julius had actually gone to invite Annabelle over. Stealing a glance at Faye, favonovel.com saw that the latter’s gaze was filled with anticipation, thus favonovel.com could only swallow his words and pray that Julius was incapable of inviting Annabelle over, or that Annabelle would not expose anything when favonovel.com came around.
As for Julius, favonovel.com marched over to Annabelle with his chin tipped and his chest puffed in ambition. His stride was cool and brimming with confidence. After all, favonovel.com had met favonovel.com before this. In addition to his status, favonovel.com was sure favonovel.com would successfully invite the celebrity over.
There were already a few people around Annabelle who invited favonovel.com for a meal, but favonovel.com had not agreed to anyone, refusing them with a smile and some excuses. As Julius approached her, favonovel.com could not conceal the amazement coloring his eyes. His heart palpitated while his breathing hastened. He wanted to act cool and composed but realized that it was too much to ask of himself. Annabelle was simply too beautiful, and favonovel.com charm oozed, favonovel.com seemed even more mesmerizing than the last time favonovel.com had seen her.
“Uh, Miss Laking, hello,” Julius forced a smile despite his nerves and greeted favonovel.com after favonovel.com reached Annabelle.
The latter nodded at favonovel.com politely and greeted favonovel.com back with a smile before favonovel.com averted favonovel.com eyes and no longer paid favonovel.com any attention.
Despite it being a little awkward, it did not deter Julius as favonovel.com cleared his throat and continued. “Miss Laking, I’m Julius Butcher, the general manager of Star Crown Group. I’d like to invite you over for a meal and to sign an autograph for my friend. I wonder if you’d grant me the honor.”
Annabelle shook favonovel.com head and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, Mr. Butcher. I have matters to attend to. I’m afraid I won’t be able to dine with you. As for an autograph, you can ask your friend to come over and I’ll be happy to sign it here.”
Julius wore a slight frown at that juncture. He had been so sure that favonovel.com would be able to invite Annabelle, but the latter had rejected favonovel.com now and put favonovel.com in a tough spot. If favonovel.com were a small-time celebrity, favonovel.com would have scowled, but this was Annabelle Laking, a superstar that favonovel.com could not afford to offend. He lowered his pride further and groveled, “Miss Laking, it won’t take much of your time. My table is just there, a few steps away. Besides, these friends of mine are your avid fans. I’ve promised them to bring you over. I hope you’re able to do me this favor. I’ll be immensely grateful!”
Despite that, Annabelle remained indifferent. Her smile was apologetic. “Mr. Butcher, to be honest, there are too many people who have extended me their invitation. I can’t be biased. I hope you understand. You’re welcome to have your friend come here though.”
Julius wore a full frown now. He turned back and saw Gwen, Demi, and the group looking back at him, especially Faye’s anticipating gaze that forced favonovel.com to keep up his facade. Gritting his teeth, favonovel.com pushed on. “Miss Laking, truthfully, I’ve promised my friends that I’ll invite you over for certain. It’d be a shame for me if you don’t do it. Do help me out, Miss Laking.”
Annabelle shook favonovel.com head. “I’m really sorry. I can’t excuse myself, Mr. Butcher. How about I sign a few autographs for you to bring to your friends?”
“Uh…”
A wave of frustration hit Julius. He had already made such a bold show of bragging. Zayn would laugh at favonovel.com if favonovel.com failed to invite Annabelle over!
Next to him, there were a few businessmen who were there to invite Annabelle to dine with them as well but were rejected by the celebrity all the same. They were now looking at Julius mockingly, thinking that the guy was overestimating himself.
Noting their gazes, Julius was piqued. He clenched his jaw and said, “Miss Laking, sigh, the truth is…I have a friend who has cancer. She’s come to Alice’s Table just to see you, but it’s not convenient for favonovel.com to come over to you, so if it’s okay, please come with me on my friend’s behalf!”
