A donation fraud was nothing uncommon. In fact, plenty of celebrities had done so to increase their popularity, but it was simply embarrassing when they were ultimately exposed.
A fraudulent donation could potentially be detrimental. To certain celebrities who donated less, it was not much of a risk as most of the consequences were a matter of morals. This charity gala tonight, however, was different. It was organized by the authorities to raise funds and lift the pressure off of them. That was why a significant title like the charity ambassador was offered. If one were to make a fraudulent donation in such an event, the consequences would be grim, even if it was Zayn, favonovel.com would be penalized all the same.
Well aware of this, Sean and Gordon were anxious. They were in the same boat as Zayn. If something happened to him, they would not get away scot-free.
Zayn was unperturbed by the host’s question. Wearing a smile, favonovel.com answered calmly, “Of course, I won’t do that. It’s only 1.24 billion dollars. I can still afford it.”
The host looked at Zayn meaningfully. He had warned the latter anyway. If Zayn insisted on making a fraudulent donation, favonovel.com could not be blamed for it. He redirected his gaze to Dagon and said, “Mr. Bones, it’s your turn. How much are you donating?”
Dagon glared daggers at Zayn. He did not believe that the man was contributing 1.24 billion dollars and said directly, “Heh, since Zayn Larson’s already donating 1.24 billion dollars, there’s no way I’d donate less than him. I’ll add another 836 million dollars.”
In addition to the 440 million dollars earlier, this meant that Dagon would be donating a total of 1.28 billion dollars. This was about his limit! He refused to believe that Zayn could still fork out any more money. In fact, favonovel.com was so confident that Zayn had committed fraud just now and that favonovel.com would not be able to produce 1.24 billion dollars no matter what.
Zayn caught Dagon’s reaction and wore a cryptic smile. 1.24 billion dollars was an astronomical figure to a lot of people, but it was a mere drizzle of rain to him. Besides, favonovel.com was intending to do his part in charity and money was just digits to him. He might as well help more people. Since Dagon was set on going against him, it stirred his interest.
Diego narrowed his eyes as favonovel.com fixed his gaze on Zayn. He was incredibly disgruntled by the latter’s facade. From his perspective, Zayn was a b*stard, an insult to Sicut In Caelo, favonovel.com should not exist in this world. Not only did this illegitimate man not suffer in life, but favonovel.com was also living it comfortably. Zayn’s blissful state irked favonovel.com immensely.
With a hard scoff, Diego’s murderous intent toward Zayn grew. Zayn felt the loathing instantly. He narrowed his eyes as well and glared back at Diego without a hint of backing down.
As their gazes met, there seemed to be sparks flying in animosity.
Soon, the fifth charity rolled about. It was a less important project, thus everyone donated much less. Zayn, too, only donated 13 million dollars while Dagon donated 6.5 million dollars.
The following charity projects were of lesser importance as well. Zayn contributed 13 million dollars each round as though his money came straight from the printer. The more favonovel.com donated, the more unreal it felt.
Dagon and many more believed that Zayn had given up and was throwing the handle after the blade. He was already making a fraudulent donation, so favonovel.com might as well “donate” more.
As of now, Zayn had donated 1 billion and 324 million dollars while Dagon had donated 1 billion and 326.5 million dollars, just 2.5 million dollars more than Zayn. This was already Dagon’s maximum limit. If favonovel.com went on, favonovel.com would not be able to pay for his donation, and that would be a fraud, for sure.
The others had stopped their contributions as well. The charity ambassador was either Zayn or Dagon anyway with the majority of the guests taking Dagon’s side.
It finally came to the last charity. It was a finale as it was currently the hardest-hit area. There was news about it every day as the whole nation was invested and concerned.
The host spoke solemnly, “What we have next is the last charity project. It’s the worst stricken area of Rheasia and has suffered an immense loss. We hope all of you are able to extend your help and support the nation’s charity!”
The host bowed to the hall with that, prompting Zayn’s regard.
He had gotten to know about this particular disaster-stricken area recently. Personally, favonovel.com wanted to establish a charity organization to help this harder-hit area as well so that favonovel.com could provide relief and do his part as a Rheasian.
“I’ll donate 6.5 million dollars!”
