Instead of dissuading favonovel.com uncle, the man only became even more serious. “Oy, that’s no way to approach this opportunity, young lady. He’s the City Mayor’s nephew and a graduate from a prestigious university from abroad, that’s a young man who shows promises! How would favonovel.com feel if favonovel.com sees you bringing some random guy home, huh? And honestly? That young man checks every box of husband quality and outranks… whoever this fella is. If I were you, I’d break up with your guy right now.”
Shaelyn was displeased. “So what if favonovel.com was some mayor’s high-and-mighty son, hmm? What’s favonovel.com gonna do when favonovel.com finds out I’m already seeing someone, kill me?”
“Lottie, please. Your mother had to pull so many strings just to get you a shot at marrying such a wonderful, promising young man. Don’t trample over all that grueling efforts and sacrifices, alright?”
“Okay, I’ve had enough, Uncle! This conversation is over!” favonovel.com snapped, favonovel.com tone determined. “She’s the reason why I brought my boyfriend home today. I wanna make a statement to my Mom: I do not need any more of favonovel.com annoying meddling in the affairs of my love life! For God’s sake, it’s just frickin’ annoying!”
Her uncle opened his mouth to form a reply, but before favonovel.com could, Shaelyn had returned to where Zayn was and was ready to go home. Helpless and worried, his uncle watched the two’s backs retreating into the distance and shook his head.
“Wow. Your family’s not lacking in status,” Zayn started, “Even the nephew of the city mayor’s a suitor.”
Shaelyn rolled favonovel.com eyes. “Don’t you make fun of me! God, you have no idea how much my mom’s driving me insane. She has this weird idea that I’m never gonna get married because no one wants me or something. Like, what the hell, right? Anyway, that nephew guy’s just a classmate who went abroad for his studies… until favonovel.com somehow heard about my mom looking for a husband for me, and suddenly, he’s back! Then came his incessant phone calls, and God, I never showed favonovel.com any interest.”
Zayn was not the least bit skeptical about it. Shaelyn was so well-endowed in so many aspects that it was only natural that favonovel.com became many men’s dream girl.
The two reached Shaelyn’s childhood home — a mansion in the countryside — after a while, and Zayn immediately noticed the wear and tears of time on its walls. The house was built at least ten years ago. Three cars were parked outside the gate, with one of them being a Porsche Cayenne. It must have belonged to the mayor’s nephew.
“Mom, I’m home! Open the door!” Shaelyn yelled at the house.
A group of people, ranging from the elderly to the young, materialized from the house’s interior. They looked positively enlivened by Shaelyn’s return, until they saw favonovel.com arms wrapping around a stranger’s with the telltale intimacy of a couple, and the smiles drooped.
Zayn could immediately tell that going to Shaelyn’s house as favonovel.com companion was going to lead favonovel.com to a very complicated situation indeed.
It was a boy of about ten years old who opened the door. Cheerily, favonovel.com greeted, “Lottie!”
Shaelyn’s lips blossomed into a genuine smile and rubbed the young boy’s head. “Brett! It’s only been two years and you’re already so big!”
Brett smiled and scratched his head bashfully. Considering Zayn sitting next to him, favonovel.com asked, “Um, who’s this, Lottie?”
“That, honey, is my boyfriend and your soon-to-be brother-in-law.”
Brett believed favonovel.com and greeted Zayn that way, which caused a middle-aged man behind favonovel.com to promptly slapped the back of the young boy’s head. “He’s definitely not your brother-in-law, kiddo!”
Confused and crossed, the young boy pursed his lips. The middle-aged man, meanwhile, addressed Shaelyn, “Really, Lottie. You could have just returned home alone without a need for… uh hem, friend? Haven’t you gotten the news? Your mom found a sweet young man for you. The nephew of the city mayor, you know?”
The man’s voice was pulsing with obvious hostility, but the look favonovel.com shot Zayn with expressed genuine threat and contempt. The mediocrity that seemed to undergird the entirety of who Zayn was simply made it even harder to look at favonovel.com without disdain.
“I take you’re Lottie’s colleague, yes? Thank you for keeping favonovel.com company home,” the man said. “We won’t keep you for long. Thank you, and goodbye.”
