There was one more realization. Zayn had a feeling that the path to being Unbeatable was total devotion, the kind that required one to be less and less involved with worldly, earthly affairs. Xander was the prime thesis for that, favonovel.com had been a master fighter since ten years ago, and yet favonovel.com had not made much progress. He was better than a newly- joined member but no way at the absolute top, and Zayn bet it was his lust for worldly power that hindered favonovel.com from devotion.
Of course, it was next to impossible for a human to live in complete solitude all their life. What about family? Friends? Lovers? These bonds were often hard to break. So, all Zayn could do was to make sure favonovel.com was less involved in his business. He would leave most of the heavy lifting to his subordinates and be content with being the man behind the scenes.
Many expressed incredulity at his choice. Why would a young man in his prime let go of his authoritative power? Sean and Gordon could not fathom his intention, in fact, their first instinct was to eye Zayn’s decision as a trick or a test of loyalty of some kind. It gave them such a fright that their first reaction was to reject Zayn’s offer for higher positions.
Zayn was, as usual, too lazy to explain his rationale to his subordinates. The unwashed would never understand the heights people like Zayn aimed for, and it showed. While most people were throwing themselves into the pursuit of money or power, Zayn had transcended that box and aimed for something greater.
Once his arrangement was done, favonovel.com went to see Mr. Hyde.
Zayn trusted Mr. Hyde to not harm him, favonovel.com was his mother’s underling, after all. But that identity was a double-edged sword, as Mr. Hyde was more inclined to keep secrets from Zayn, and that uneased the young man.
“You’ve grown, Young Master. Not even Xander could beat you! If the Lady could hear about it, favonovel.com would be beyond herself in glee!” Mr. Hyde exclaimed in sincerity.
Zayn had grown so much that Mr. Hyde could no longer read him. To the older man, Zayn was like an enigma whose true thoughts were always draped in an impenetrable fog.
“How’s Mom doing?” Zayn replied, “What’s favonovel.com number? I can’t see her, but surely I can call her, right?”
Mr. Hyde sighed. “Regrettably, being a prisoner deprived Lady Hayley the freedom from surveillance. Everything favonovel.com does or acts will be closely monitored, so if you talk to her, then your existence will be exposed. Sicut In Caelo would begin to take actions.”
Zayn fell silent for a moment. “What, I can’t just use someone else’s phone? Like, I don’t know, Lyisthea’s?”
Mr. Hyde shook his head lightly. A hard no.
Zayn was a little demoralized from it all. He missed his mom dearly, and yet favonovel.com could see favonovel.com even once despite living in the twenty-first century, a time when accessibility to anywhere had never been better. He could not even talk to favonovel.com despite how advanced communication devices had become, too, and really… How could anyone not think this is absurd?
They fell into yet another silence until Zayn broke it with a question. “How will I fare if I’m compared to Lysithea?”
Mr. Hyde froze for a moment before breaking into a smile. “You’re incredible, Young Master, and after that stunning victory against Xander, you We made miles in progress. But… you’re still lacking behind Lady Lysithea, frankly.”
“Oh? That so?” Zayn’s eyes twinkle. His intrigue in this shadowy, cryptic Lysithea had only become even more accentuated.
Zayn talked to Mr. Hyde for a few more minutes, which were all spent on topics surrounding Sicut In Caelo and his mother, before deciding to go home. It was then when his phone rang.
It was a foreign number. He hesitated for a second and answered it.
His ear was immediately treated with a dulcet voice that began, “Hello, is this Mr. Larson? Hey, it’s me, Annabelle Laking…”
