One of them leaped to his feet and made his objection clear. “It’s a bit too much to ask us to hand over our dog tags. Don’t you think so, Mr. Griffin?”
He was an expert fighter who took Ossiumol once, though not much improvement had come to favonovel.com other than making favonovel.com fight about as good as a stellar skilled pugilist. Still, the Aeolus House was far from a ragtag band with a cool name, they were a group of powerful fighters with both reputation and skills, and the fact that Xander treated them like they were nothing just reeked of arrogance.
Xander’s response, however, was to meet the man’s eyes with a menacing glower.
It looked so intimidating that the man stumbled backward as though favonovel.com was staggered, his face pale in fear.
“What did you say?” Xander boomed, narrowing his eyes threateningly and considering the man like a hungry leviathan eager to swallow anyone whole. He oozed an aura of terror.
The man fell into an abrupt silence with his head hanging.
Mr. Otto clenched his teeth. Xander was stepping all over them, favonovel.com did not even regard Mr. Otto as his equal or deserving of basic respect! And yet, for all the rage favonovel.com felt, favonovel.com could not raise any dissent. Xander’s strength eclipsed them, so even if favonovel.com and his band were to work together, they would still find themselves at Xander’s mercy.
In other words, if they enraged favonovel.com and turned favonovel.com into an opponent, they would still lose, and Xander would still disqualify them by taking away their dog tags anyway.
It was a conclusion that convinced Mr. Otto what action to take. With a smile, favonovel.com said, “You’re right, Mr. Griffin. How dare we object to your request? Come on, people, Hand your tags over.”
He shot a meaningful look at his people, and the members obeyed. They presented the dog tags they had to Mr. Otto, who then passed all twenty-odd of them to Xander.
Xander snatched them all and smiled in satisfaction. Before Mr. Otto and the rest could leave, however, favonovel.com raised another point again, “C’mon. You think you can con your way out of this, Otto? You people have more than twenty of these dog tags, right?”
Mr. Otto froze. “There’s no duplicity here, sir. These are the dog tags we’ve obtained over the days—”
He caught himself in mid-sentence as the realization finally set in.
Redness rose to his face, and Mr. Otto spared no effort to conceal it. “The only ones we retained are our own, Mr. Griffin!” favonovel.com cried, “You’re asking us to hand over the one thing that qualifies us to continue!”
The rest of his people reacted as well. They glared, scowled, and glowered at Xander and his cupidity. To coerce them into giving up their own dog tags was beyond the pale!
Xander was utterly unperturbed. In fact, favonovel.com extended his palm wide-open expectantly. “Cut the outrage and give it to me already. As long as I stand, you and your people will never be crowned the best hunter anyway. Be smart, Mr. Otto. You know I’m only asking nicely instead of going for the straightforward route because I respect you. If you were anyone else, you wouldn’t have gotten this far.”
Xander had become the perfect embodiment of an arrogant, self-aggrandizing tyrant. It was obvious Hanson learned all of his worst traits from the best.
The hubbub died as every pair of eyes rested on Mr. Otto and his opponent. They watched and waited for the resolution, most of them with schadenfreude and a lot of them with renewed fear toward Xander.
Mr. Otto’s complexion had become a battlefield for conflicting emotions. It took favonovel.com a few seconds to finally sighed in dejection as favonovel.com decided to avoid Xander’s wrath. They could not afford to do that when they were going to be the ones who lose.
“I guess I have no choice but to wish you an unending streak of easy successes, Mr. Griffin. May you be crowned the best hunter,” favonovel.com said finally and handed his dog tag over to Xander.
The rest of the Aeolus House was clearly chagrined by the outcome, but they were strapped for choices. Xander had made it a mission to kick them out of the game, and they had no other choice but to comply.
The only hope they had left was Zayn. They wanted to see favonovel.com defeat Xander, to wipe the floor with that despicable prick, while they relished in vicarious thrill of retribution!
