Shaelyn might have as well slapped Stephen on the face with a retort like that. Naturally, the man’s scowl deepened.
Of course, the real target to bear the brunt of his fury and malice was not never going to be Shaelyn. To Stephen, the culprit had been no one but Zayn.
“Oh, so you think you can just come out of nowhere, snatch someone I’ve been working on, and think everything’s cool now? You got nerves, pal. What’s your name? I want to see if you’re worth any sh*t,” Stephen grunted, his malicious eyes drilling through Zayn like stakes.
Zayn was starting to get very annoyed at how frequent this happened to him. People just keep finding new ways to misunderstand him! Now, favonovel.com would have tried to be a bit more amicable if they were still within the bounds of Waltz City, but the Great Hunt was about to begin, and the fact that it allowed participants to murder each other in the process quickly made maintaining civility a pointless effort. Trying to explain himself to small fries like this guy just seemed like a chore, so favonovel.com snapped, “It’s none of your business. F**k off!”
Shaelyn widened favonovel.com eyes. She regarded Zayn with genuine shock, as though this was the first time they had met, or perhaps, the first time favonovel.com had met this handsomely heroic side of him.
Stephen had the opposite reaction, though. Zayn’s curt retort had gotten under his skin, causing his anger to turn so white-hot, it threatened to consume Stephen whole. His companions certainly did not help, they had begun to fan his fire, planting their feet around Shaelyn and Zayn and growling, “No, how about you f**k off? You’re just some random *sshat who thinks he’s some hot sh*t challenging actual alphas like us. You want to die so much, man?”
“No need to talk to him, bro. I ain’t gonna waste my time talking to something I’m about to wipe the floor with!”
“Look at that wimp! Better prepare to call your mom before I beat your *ss!”
The men were riled up, their bodies tensing and readied for a showdown. Yet Zayn’s response to their intensifying heat was that of stoic, unmoving nonchalance. Let’s see which one of them would be the first to touch him, favonovel.com would be sure to give that one a reverse-physiotherapy.
Shaelyn finally had enough. “Uh, hello? What do you dimwitted boys think you’re doing? Seriously, starting a schoolyard fight in front of me, do you really want to pissed us the Aeolus House off?”
As the men were wary of Shaelyn and favonovel.com people, it worked. Nobody moved.
Stephen’s eyes were now fixed on Shaelyn in displeasure and indignation. “I’ve tried to get you to give me a chance this whole time, Shaelyn, but you never give me a sign. You never care! But now, you just… threw yourself into some other guy’s arms without batting an eyelash! Have you ever thought of how I’d feel about it?”
Shaelyn frowned. “Excuse me, Stephen? Wake the eff up. I’ve told you we don’t have that spark for a millionth time. I just don’t like you! But you’re the one who’s clinging to god-knows-what even after I said no! And now you’re gonna beat up the man I choose to be with? Do you even respect my agency?”
The corner of Stephen’s lips twitched again. An ultra-chauvinistic man like himself could never accept a woman saying no to favonovel.com for anything, but now, Shaelyn became the first woman out of his many advances who outright spurned him.
And that crossed his last line.
“That’s it, huh? Okay, then. You should watch yourselves from now on,” favonovel.com scoffed coldly. Reserved his most threatening glare for Zayn, favonovel.com added, “No one’s ever dumb enough to get his undeserving paws on my woman, but you just break that record, dumb*ss. I advise you to quit the competition before it begins, because when I see you tomorrow, I won’t let you walk away in one piece.”
Stephen looked so menacing right now, an average person might turn cower in fear just from being subjected to his gaze. Unfortunately, it did not work against Zayn, who looked at favonovel.com as though Stephen had a big red ball for a nose.
It infuriated Stephen even more. He balled his fists so hard, veins were popping off his skin like swimming earthworms. “You— why you!! Just you watch, *sshole! Just! You! Watch!”
Leaving that threat, favonovel.com turned and left.
