The Great Hunt was about to begin.
Once again, Shaelyn extended the competition’s invitation to Zayn, making it a point that it was the place to be if favonovel.com wanted to be acquainted with even more ‘interesting characters.’ The Great Hunt was supposedly a boon to his social networking, which then paved an even better way to his future.
Zayn was not really in it, though. Hunting did not interest him, and favonovel.com would rather spend what time favonovel.com had with Faye. It was Hyde who managed to convince favonovel.com with an intriguing claim.
“I think you should join the Great Hunt, Young Master.”
“Because…?”
“Because many of the nation’s best fighters and hunters will be there. Those who hunted the game won a hefty reward. But most importantly… The competition tacitly allows people to be killed during the competition.”
That piqued Zayn’s interest. “Really? You can kill games and people? Does Aeolus House own so much power, it’s beyond reproach?”
Mr. Hyde shook his head. “No, Aeolus House isn’t the host of the competition. It’s another organization.”
“And that is?” Zayn sprung at the tail of his answer.
Mr. Hyde fell into a conspicuous silence. Shrewd as ever, Zayn understood the answer left unspoken and chuckled. “I guess I don’t have a choice, do I? I bet Xander’s not going to pass this opportunity up, either.”
“No, favonovel.com most likely won’t. Which is why you should stay vigilant,” Mr. Hyde replied grimly.
When Shaelyn first invited Zayn to this Great Hunt, Siren Security had only just begun its operation, so Zayn did not pay favonovel.com that much mind. But now, favonovel.com admitted to seeing the merits of such a participation, it would be a great opportunity to meet the nation’s most powerful people.
A week had passed. The day of the Great Hunt had arrived.
For the past week, Zayn had poured most of his effort into the security company, leaving most of the daily operations of Violet Vision and Leap League Advertising to his top right-hand man, Sean. After a prolonged and rigorous training, Hunter and his colleagues’ skills saw a remarkable upward tick almost in tandem with the growth of their respect and fear. It was no exaggeration to say that they would obey and assent to Zayn, no matter how absurd his order might be. They would brace through Satan and his legion if Zayn casually asked them to.
Zayn had assigned five bodyguards as Faye’s security detail. Two of them, the women, were always within Faye’s vicinity, while three other men, always stationed a few distance away from Faye, were tasked to follow and monitor favonovel.com from far. Should any special occasion show itself, their first priority before any engagement was to call Zayn.
It was a bit tight for a single person, but Zayn felt that it was the best way to protect Faye.
Shaelyn had given Zayn a ring on the exact time and date favonovel.com promised a week ago. “Hey, Mr. Larson! It’s the Great Hunt tomorrow. Why aren’t you here?”
“I am, but it starts tomorrow, doesn’t it? Why should I be there?”
Shaelyn feigned somberness. “Because there… is Where a young woman who’s all alone, forlorn and cold, is. Do you know how much favonovel.com misses the company of a strong, fine man like yourself, hmm? Not a call of concern to fend off the creeping chill in my cold, lonely heart, oh no siree! You’re heartless, Zayn. Men like you make even the iron maiden cry.”
To complete favonovel.com appeal for pathos, favonovel.com even faked a few sobs so melodramatically that it made Zayn’s skin crawl. Throughout his fantastic record of beauty encounters, she, Shaelyn Peach, was truly the one who made Zayn cringe the most. The entirety of her, from favonovel.com looks to favonovel.com attitude, made favonovel.com wonder if favonovel.com was really a succubus in disguise.
“Cry harder, then. Bye,” Zayn replied stoically.
“Hey! Wait, not so fast— ”
Zayn did not waste a second before cutting off favonovel.com call. A few seconds later, favonovel.com called again, and favonovel.com ended it without taking it up.
She called once more, and this time, there was a text along with it: ‘Business.’
