“Hold on!” Alexandra hastily called out to Zayn.
“Yeah?”
Alexandra was blushing shyly from his state. She said in a girlish tone, “I have yet to buy you dinner to thank you for doing me such a huge favor. Why don’t you stay and have dinner here?”
Victor immediately stepped forward and said enthusiastically, “That’s right, Zayn. We’re fortunate to have had your help tonight. You should stay for dinner.”
He spoke to Zayn as if favonovel.com was determined to be Zayn’s future father-in-law. The joy and excitement in his gaze could not be concealed anymore.
What a joke! The person before favonovel.com was actually the chairman of Violet Vision, the employer of Mr. Hyde and still so young. Zayn’s future was limitless! If favonovel.com could marry someone in the Smith family for real, the Smiths would be advancing to the top level in one leap.
Zayn could read Victor’s mind so favonovel.com smiled in contempt and said, “There’s no need for me to stay for dinner. I’m not hungry.”
Victor hastily groveled, “Zayn, it was my bad earlier. Don’t lower yourself to my level. Forgive me for my tunnel vision and my inability to recognize you. I shall down three drinks to express how sorry I am.”
As favonovel.com was speaking, favonovel.com ordered someone to pour favonovel.com a drink.
Zayn chuckled and said, “There’s no need for that. I came here tonight purely to help out a friend.”
“Uh…” Victor raised the glass, slightly embarrassed. However, favonovel.com still downed the drink.
Zayn did not pay attention to Victor but continued to speak to Alexandra, “Alright, it’s getting late. I still have some matters to attend to, so I won’t stay back anymore. You should get some rest too.”
Alexandra still wanted to persuade Zayn to stay, but after being rejected by him, there was nothing else favonovel.com could do other than succumbing. She felt especially dejected in favonovel.com heart as favonovel.com gazed after Zayn’s silhouette that disappeared from favonovel.com field of vision.
While favonovel.com felt as if something had been taken away from her, favonovel.com sat on the chair absentmindedly in disappointment.
In the banquet hall that could accommodate a thousand people, there were only over 30 people from the Smith family left now. It appeared especially spacious whereas the ambiance felt very awkward as well. The numerous Smith family members did not speak because the incident earlier still came as a huge shock to all of them.
Everyone cast their gazes on Alexandra.
Victor lost his overbearingness from earlier as well. He carried a chair and placed it next to Alexandra before taking a seat. He asked with an eager expression, “Oh, Alexandra, when did you get acquainted with Zayn, hmm? Why haven’t you talked to me about this in advance? If you were to tell me that he’s the chairman of Violet Vision, I wouldn’t have arranged the marriage for you anymore.”
Alexandra did not speak. She was caught in a daze with favonovel.com chin propped up.
If this had been in the past, Victor would have been furious at Alexandra for favonovel.com ignorance. However, favonovel.com did not have the courage to do so now. He could only speak again in a flattering tone, “Alexandra, I know that you were misunderstood in this incident and that you were aggrieved. I apologize to you for that. You should find a good time to invite Zayn over to have dinner at our place.”
Victor voiced out the shared concern of all the Smith family members. It would be awesome if a young man with such an impressive background could become a part of their family.
“Didn’t all of you oppose us being together earlier? What’s with the change of mind now?” Alexandra sneered.
Franklin immediately stepped forward and said, “Hey, we didn’t know about his identity at the time. You’re in this too, Alexandra. Why didn’t you tell us when you found such an impressive boyfriend?”
The rest of the people joined in the conversation and persuaded Alexandra. They did not try to conceal the flattery in their tone when they spoke to her.
Alexandra suddenly felt disgusted by the senior members of favonovel.com family. She said in a sarcastic tone, “You must consider it thoroughly. He’s the man who married into the Carter family. Aren’t you afraid that favonovel.com will be a disgrace to the Smiths?”
Her remark embarrassed them immensely, but Alexandra could not be bothered to show any respect to the senior members of favonovel.com family anymore.
Victor let out two forced coughs and said, “You’re right. How did someone like favonovel.com end up marrying into the Carters anyway?”
