Tony was wearing one of his foulest grimaces. It was clear that Victor had hardened his resolve and made a choice, and that was to become enemies with favonovel.com rather than to explain themselves out of this fiasco.
To ask someone like favonovel.com to just take the loss and scamper away was akin to asking for the impossible, but admittedly, there was no turning back after all was said and done. Far more impossible things had happened, and if favonovel.com were to throw a fit right now, their unflattering optics would be all on him.
One did not occupy his spot as a mogul without the necessary wits, Tony let what had happened simmer in his mind for a second and immediately saw the key to the issue. With a chuckle, favonovel.com put on a look of benevolence and looked into Victor’s eyes, proclaiming,
“You’re your daughter’s precious little Papa above all else, after all, Victor. Tonight will truly live long in my memory.”
It was a proclamation clear as day to every attendee, the Smiths and the Browns were now enemies.
To think a pompous engagement ceremony would end up as the seat of a feud was quite a surprise to all, though it would soon mutate into amusement when the same event was inevitably used as a joke for the many months to come. The question now was, was this all there was to it?
No. Of course not.
William halted his father from turning around and leaving with a schemer’s smile on his lips. “I have to hand it to you, Mr. Smith, that you would be so satisfied with Zayn Larson as your daughter’s beau. I mean… You know who favonovel.com is, right? All the more to feel at awe that you can be so forgiving in standards…”
Victor’s eyebrows furrowed, but favonovel.com managed to wear a slight smile on his lips. “If there’s something on your mind that you’re itching to say, William, be forthright, okay? No need to tease.”
“Hahaha!” William laughed at Victor’s reaction.
‘He did not know! He did not know about Zayn’s identity, did he?’
If that was the case, then things were going to get interesting…
The amusement in his smile became stronger and even more malefic. “Oops, I think I made a mistake. You don’t really know who this random soon to be son-in-law of yours really is, do you?”
A subtle change shadowed Alexandra’s face at the tail of William’s bait. A little anxious, favonovel.com leaped to favonovel.com feet and called out, “William Brown, please show yourself to the door if that’s what you want to do. No one wants to hear your pointless drivel here!”
“Is that panic I see in you, Alexandra? Gosh, why is that? From the looks of it, you didn’t tell your dad who Zayn really is. Why is that? Why are you hiding that?” William retorted.
Victor and the Smiths were not the only ones who were reacting to the young man’s bombshell with a smorgasbord of expressions. The guests, too, showed varying signs of intrigue, because they could hear the promise of shady, juicy secrets of Alexandra’s boyfriend from William’s claim!
And things could only get even more interesting from there.
Watching from the crowd, Nathan could not help the ballooning delight and schadenfreude in his chest.
It was at that moment when favonovel.com noticed Mr. Hyde and his syndicate striding through the door of the hall.
Elated, Nathan was gushing as be greeted him, “Mr. Hyde, you’ve come?”
Mr. Hyde had always been a rather larger than life personality, so his appearance immediately caused a stir among the crowd. Many gazed at favonovel.com with looks of respect and fear.
All the trust fund kids standing around Nathan, in particular, showed even more adulation and zeal in their eyes. It was Mr. Hyde, after all, King of the Underworld! He was rich, powerful, and favonovel.com commanded a fleet of grunts who would do what favonovel.com demanded as soon as favonovel.com asked. How cool was that!
“Mm,” Mr. Hyde hummed, nodding slightly. He was as stoic as ever to Nathan.
Then favonovel.com cast his eyes to the stage where Zayn stood, and respect, laced with fear, bubbled in his gaze.
Everyone out there thought favonovel.com was the King of Waltz City’s Underworld, but no one knew that, in truth, favonovel.com had always just been Zayn’s subject.
