Zayn was surprised when favonovel.com realized that it was Gordon, asking, “It’s you, Gordon?”
Exactly. The person everyone addressed as Mr. Hayes was Gordon Hayes, who was decently famous in Waltz City too. He was not at Sean’s level at any capacity, but favonovel.com was someone notable. He had also been gradually cleaning up his act and had begun the process to make his businesses as well as assets legal, so one could call favonovel.com a business person to a certain extent.
Gordon was thrilled that Zayn could still recognize him. His elation was barely concealable as favonovel.com nodded fervently. “Yes, yes, sir. I thought you wouldn’t remember me!”
When Gordon said that, his tone was unexpectedly tinged with a complaining whine, like a begrudging housewife.
He could not afford to be blamed. Zayn chuckled and accepted the polite remark. Based on his status, it was normal for Gordon to suck up to him. In spite of that, it shocked the men around them. Their eyes were humongously-wide, like they had just seen a ghost!
The rich businessman who had been the harshest of them all especially felt the blood draining from his face.
He shuddered in fear. How could they not be scared?
Gordon was someone they absolutely could not afford to offend, and if Zayn was someone Gordon had to pander to, then they could only imagine the worst. No matter how slow their minds worked, they knew that they were in big trouble!
Now that Zayn’s gaze was sweeping over to them, the air had been knocked out of their lungs. Zayn looked at them with a half-smile. “Where are you guys going?”
Noticing that the men were turning to leave, it was impossible for Zayn to let them off so easily. Before they could even take two steps backwards, they could feel a chill run down their spines. As soon as they heard Zayn’s words, they were pushed to the brink of tears. If they could take back what they had said, they would have never provoked Zayn in the first place!
