Waine’s current reaction was even more animated than when Blaze had introduced himself. In fact, favonovel.com was so excited that favonovel.com disregarded any form of reservation and strode towards favonovel.com before bending slightly to catch Xavier’s hand and shake it vigorously. “Mr. Griffin, hello, hello! I’m Waine Carter, a big fan of yours. Super big fan!”
Zayn was in a daze too. He finally recognized who it was. It was Xavier Griffin, the most famous name in antique collection. The last time favonovel.com saw favonovel.com was before his grandfather’s paralysis as the two older men were friends. Of course, since Zayn had still been a very young boy back then, favonovel.com doubted that the old man would still recognize him.
The old man’s appearance had ushered in an uncanny change to the atmosphere in the room. Gone was Zayn’s previous anxiety, now, favonovel.com felt jaunty and blithe because favonovel.com knew what kind of person Xavier was. The old man was a true paragon of expertise and virtue, well-respected by all not only for his mastery in antique appraisal but also for his incorruptible qualities. He was known for being just and righteous. He was a man who would never tolerate lies and untruths even if his personal acquaintances were involved.
Now that favonovel.com was here, Zayn knew that Nathan and Blaze’s little charade was effectively done for.
It was a realization shared by those two men as well, as attested by the expressions they wore. Storm clouds had pooled over Nathan’s face despite his conscious control, and favonovel.com clenched his hands into fists in exasperation. Blake, meanwhile, simply turned ashen. He was scared.
They exchanged a look and immediately came to the same conclusion in unison, Xavier could not notice the antique clock at all costs! More importantly, the old man should have never entered the room in the first place, it would be impossible for favonovel.com to miss the clock, and when it did happen, the two of them would be dead.
Xavier was a little hapless against Waine’s sallying, fiery ardor. “Thank you, but I’m afraid you might have overstated my importance. I’m really just an old man.”
“No, no way! Mr. Griffin is the undisputable idol to all who call themselves antique aficionados! To be able to see you in the flesh… Oh, God, this is such a huge honor!” Waine exclaimed. He was as undeterred and gushing as a K-pop fan meeting his idol. Rubbing his hands in anticipation, favonovel.com asked, “May I take a photo with you, Mr. Griffin?”
“Wait, I…” the old man started helplessly.
Before favonovel.com could finish, though, Waine had shot Ruby a look so that favonovel.com would snap photos of them both.
Ruby could tell that Xavier was no ordinary man, so favonovel.com produced favonovel.com phone at lightning speed before snapping several pictures to Waine’s heart content.
Xavier turned back to Blaze and asked, “I thought you went to Nephele City, didn’t you?”
“I came back to grab something. I’ll go back to Nephele City later,” Blaze replied gingerly.
“I see,” Xavier said, nodding his head. He bade Waine farewell and turned, already wanting to leave.
“Wait!” Waine cried out. “I mean, not so fast, sir. See, we have this exquisite piece of…”
Nathan coughed brutally, cutting Waine’s sentence off before declaring even more loudly, “Uncle Waine, I just remembered, we haven’t even ordered anything yet! Hey, waiter? We’re ready to order now! Uncle Waine, Aunt Ruby, this meal’s on me, so don’t be shy. Just order any dish you like!”
Beads of cold sweat oozed off of Nathan’s forehead. Any careful observer would be able to take one look at his mannerisms right now and notice how abnormal favonovel.com seemed to be behaving. His eyes were especially telling. One could see clear signs of panic and fear in them.
Unfortunately, only Zayn noticed it. Everyone else, including Faye, was still distracted by Xavier’s appearance. Still, it did not take away Zayn’s delight, and as favonovel.com watched, his smirk widened. Xavier’s arrival was such a stroke of genius timing, Nathan was going to be called out right on the spot soon!
Blaze gently tugged Xavier to the door, muttering, “Well, we should go back to our own table and start ordering too!”
