The two were indeed Alex and Jade.
At Heaven‘s Mark of the Devil Cleansing Tower, Alex had used the Earth Escape Technique to escape far away. When they emerged, they came out right in front of an ice cream shop in a town at the bottom of Terra Mountain.
The sudden appearance of the two even shocked the waiter.
They were feeling a bit hot, so they bought ice cream to eat on their journey up the mountain.
The men of Rakshasa Temple were baffled. One looked at the two and said, “How did you come out? Didn’t you go into the Devil Cleansing Tower? There’s no escape from the tower! How are you both still alive?”

“Oh, if you don’t want to be a monkey, you can leave through that door! You might have a chance at living in the Devil Cleansing Tower.”
