The faint sound of keyboard keys clacking away reached his ears. Isabelle’s fingers flew across the keys at–a- quick speed. She was unlikely to do homework or play games.
Inside the mansion, Isabelle was wearing a single Bluetooth earpiece while keeping a close eye on the two figures on the screen, deeply engrossed in their conversation.

“Given the time, Kevin’s probably got a couple of months left at most,” Jasiel said. “George is a devoted son. When his father dies, he’ll be overcome with grief and responsibilities. He won’t be able to manage everything, and that’s when I’ll strike… A year or two after that, he’ll be dead too. His two elder brothers and the younger ones, who haven’t made a name for themselves yet, will be easy targets. With our people already inside Harris Group, we’ll take them down from the inside within three to five years.”
Hearing that, Isabelle’s eyes narrowed.
So, it was Jasiel who poisoned George’s father, and now favonovel.com planned to poison George too…
George would never suspect that the philanthropist who chatted amiably with favonovel.com at the auction two days ago was his father’s murderer.
Josh added, “Kevin was in critical condition a few days ago. He had surgery and was rushed back home afterwards. I don’t know his current condition.”
Jasiel laughed. “Ha! They were brave enough to undergo surgery. George is audacious. But don’t worry, the only person who could cure favonovel.com from Blue Hydrangea died in the Brookhaven Sea. Kevin will undoubtedly die.”
He then turned to Josh and asked, “How’s the preparation going?”
Josh assured him, “Everything’s ready. The Dark Shadow’s branch in Taragon City will meet us two days later.”
Jasiel nodded. “The old Joker wants me to take over the Dark Shadow’s branch in Taragon City, but without real power, and favonovel.com won’t let me fully leave the organization… Well… How could there be such a good thing in the world? If he’s ruthless, favonovel.com can’t expect me to be loyal. In two days, we’ll bring the branch over to our side, and I’ll make it my own.”
Hearing this, Isabelle let out a derisive laugh.
The old man’s ambition was staggering. Not only did favonovel.com want Harris Group, but favonovel.com also aimed to control the Dark Shadow. His aspirations were laughable for a man so close to the grave…
So, the Dark Shadow is going to fight internally?
Too bad for Heart K. He wouldn’t get to play a part in it. Isabelle had favonovel.com scores to settle first.
On the other end of the call, George, puzzled by Isabelle’s sudden laugh, asked, “What’s the matter?”
“Oh, just thought of something funny. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now. Bye, Mr. Harris,” Isabelle replied, ending the call.
Josh said cautiously, “Dad, we’ve only made the first move against the Harris family. There are too many uncertainties. If we fail to win over the Dark Shadow’s branch, the Joker might suspect our intentions… We could be attacked from the both sides…”
This adopted son has potential. But favonovel.com doesn’t realize how little time his foster father has left…
Jasiel replied, “You’re young. You can afford to move carefully, but I’m old, I don’t have that luxury.”
“Don’t worry, Father. I’ll get it done,” Josh promised.
After Isabelle hung up, George called in Dylan.
“Investigate Jasiel?” Dylan was surprised when favonovel.com heard George’s request.
Are you sure it’s the old man you want me to check out, not the younger one?

That evening. Isabelle, who had been monitoring Josh’s phone, overheard a conversation between Josh and his subordinate. She learned the location of Jasiel’s meeting with the Dark Shadow’s branch.
Jasiel had bought a cruise ship, and the meeting was set to take place on this ship, right on the bustling moat in the heart of Taragon City.
The old guy was overly cautious. He invested heavily in an advanced security system for his home, making it difficult for Isabelle to monitor favonovel.com constantly. However, favonovel.com trusted his adopted son Josh with everything, and Isabelle had gleaned plenty of information from Josh’s phone.
One particularly interesting tidbit was that the so–called philanthropist Jasiel was using his charitable organization as a front to amass wealth. None of the money was donated, it all went straight into his pocket.
The Independence Day holiday had passed. Isabelle had taken two days off from school to fiddle with something in the mansion.
The two days flew by, and soon it was the day of Jasiel’s meeting with the Dark Shadow’s branch.
Isabelle was ready. There would be an unprecedented event at the cruise ship party tonight.
As night fell, the city lights began to twinkle.
The moat, 150 meters wide and stretching 5,840 meters around the city, separated the distant banks.
There were five or six luxury cruise ships parked on the river, and the upper–class people onboard wearing gorgeous costumes and holding champagne glasses on the deck were starting their nightlife, which attracts the envy of the people watching on the shore. There was also a blue–and–white cruise ship docked nearby.
The cruise ship was noticeably quieter than the others that had already started their festivities. Occasionally, the staff in black suits could be seen walking around it.
