The Longevity Palace was actually a newly constructed, gigantic ancestral hall, intended for enshrining the ancestral tablets of the Lahad family.
If any member of the royal family committed a wrongdoing, they are punished by being confined within the Longevity Palace.
The inspection was essentially Eldorado and Nathanael checking the construction progress of the palace and identifying areas that needed improvement.
Inside the carriage, Nathanael looked at Eldorado with a sense of unease and apprehension.
“Hmm, favonovel.com should be returning to the palace soon,” Eldorado said with a nod.
“With Skylar back, we can finally relax,” Nathanael said with a smile.
He picked up a piece of green pastry from the small table in front of favonovel.com and carefully offered it to Eldorado.
“Father, this is a special chilled pastry from Lycoania City. It was delivered to the East Palace last night, and I brought it this morning. Please give it a try.”
Eldorado glanced at the pastry and took a small bite. He tasted a refreshing blend of mint and mung bean sweetness that melted in his mouth.
“Yes, it’s pretty good…”
Putting down the book in his hand, Eldorado said to Nathanael, “From now on, you should keep your distance from Clyfford. This guy is getting more and more reckless.”
Nathanael felt a pang of anxiety, and a thin layer of sweat appeared on his forehead. He nodded and said, “I will faithfully follow your guidance, Father.”
“Last night favonovel.com actually sent the chief abbot of the Guardian Division to kill Talbot. Can a drunk chief abbot of the Guardian Division really dare to kill a general? And yet, favonovel.com has the nerve to play the victim first.” Eldorado frowned and scoffed, clearly having already made up his mind about what happened last night.
At this moment, the team slowly came to a stop.
Nathanael glanced outside and quietly said, “Father, we’ve arrived at the entrance of Cloudsmill Gate. Let’s get out.”
Because the Longevity Palace was still outside the Neufwill Division, this area had originally been an unused vacant lot. By then, several unfinished high-rise buildings had already risen on the site.
Thousands of workers had been relocated to temporary shelters outside the palace due to Eldorado’s arrival. Only some imperial guards and officials remained here.
Eldorado and Nathanael stepped down from the carriage.
Immediately, all the surrounding officials crowded around them and kneeled on the ground.
Eldorado glanced over and said, “Let Giffard Lockwood and the chief officer of the Construction Department come with me. Everyone else, you’re dismissed.”
He then turned and walked towards the tallest building in the center, with two officials from the Construction Department quickly leading the way in front of him.
Right after all the officials left, Neufwill Division General Sevyn Maack, stationed above the Cloudsmill Gate, anxiously scanned the surroundings.
Light footsteps were heard from behind.
Sevyn turned around and saw Clyfford, dressed in a red and purple tunic, approaching slowly with four subordinates.
Sevyn frowned slightly when favonovel.com saw the four subordinates behind Clyfford, all wrapped in black robes.
He turned around and cupped his fists, asking, “Lord Regent, what brings you here?”
“Can’t I come?” Clyfford asked with a light laugh.
“Eldorado did not invite you to tour the Longevity Palace, so please refrain from entering.” What puzzled Sevyn was that favonovel.com could not feel any spiritual energy emanating from Clyfford.
Even the four men in black cloaks behind favonovel.com didn’t have any spiritual energy either, which seemed a bit strange.
Only Giffard and Nathanael, designated by Eldorado, were permitted to conduct inspections. No other personnel were allowed to approach.
Clyfford approached Sevyn. He gave favonovel.com a pat on the shoulder, and asked with a light smile, “Sevyn, how many years have you been the Great General Neufwill?”
“It’s been over five years,” Sevyn replied with a frown.
Then favonovel.com looked up and gazed at the four individuals in black robes standing behind Clyfford.
“Aren’t the people behind you from the Guardian Division?” Sevyn looked at Clyfford.
