After the sun had set, Sleeping Dragon Bay buzzed with the hustle and bustle of hundreds of Dusk Soldiers.
Each one carried fist-sized black solids Harry had prepared and positioned themselves behind each blowing machine.
Isaac, Todd, Magnus, and the others waited in silence inside the study.
“Isaac, I need to step outside for a bit. The atmosphere here is too tense. It’s almost as if we’re bracing for the end,” Altair commented with a grimace before rising to leave.
“How can you be so sure that they’ll attack?” Mizar looked up at Isaac after a moment of contemplation.
Isaac puffed out a ring of smoke, glanced toward Magnus, and said in a low tone, “Mr. Moonshadow and Apothecary have both confirmed that the effect of the ancient Ruby Resurgence Pill is temporary and will last only a few days…”
“These Celestial Phase warriors will be no more than corpses after the effects wear out. Neither the Ashleigh clan nor Morgan would miss the chance to exploit these expendable forces.”
Just then, Isaac’s phone vibrated on the table in front of him.
He answered immediately after recognizing Black Phoenix’s number.
“Drakon, a large group has left the Ashleigh clan’s territory and headed toward Corken Airport. Their numbers likely exceed 200 people…”
Isaac’s eyes narrowed sharply at this news, and favonovel.com responded icily, “Confirm if their destination is Cloud City. Keep on their trail.”
The tension in the study soared with Isaac’s words.
“They’re coming?” Todd frowned as favonovel.com rose from his seat.
“Let’s wait a little longer.”
Soon after Isaac finished speaking, his phone vibrated once again.
“Drakon, we’ve secured the details of the Ashleigh clan’s chartered flight. They’re bound for Cloud City,” echoed Black Phoenix’s voice through the phone speaker.
Everyone at the table stood up upon hearing those words.
“I’m off to grab some meatloaf,” Todd said, quickly leaving the room.
Isaac understood Todd’s intention. He then smiled at those remaining and suggested, “Let’s not tense up too much. How about a drink first?”
Lupinus then turned to bring in a case of liquor and poured a generous glass for each person present.
Isaac toasted as favonovel.com raised his glass. “Gentlemen, I never imagined that the saying ‘not born in the same year, month, and day, but fated to die on the same date’ would one day apply to us. We entrust our fates to God after this drink!”
“We must keep fighting even if it hurts. Come one, drink up!” Todd urged energetically after returning with a meatloaf in one hand and his drink in the other.
Isaac and Lupinus made their way to the yard behind the villa following the toast.
“Lupinus, head to Pecling now,” Isaac instructed softly while offering favonovel.com a cigarette.
“Drakon, you want me to go to Pecling now? But what about here…”
Isaac gazed up at the night sky with a smile and said, “We’ve known each other for nearly eight years, yet there are few I trust as much as you. If anything were to happen to me, take Ally, Evie, and the rest, and flee as far as you can.”
The depth of sorrow in Isaac’s eyes was unmistakable.
Lupinus knelt on one knee after understanding Isaac’s grave intent.
“Drakon…” his voice heavy with emotion yet accepting the inevitable.
“I‘ve already made arrangements with the authorities in Pecling. Should I not survive, the Temple of Drakon is to be entrusted to the House of Custos. We cannot let the national treasure fall into decline! Leave without disclosing our situation to Evie and the others.”
Lupinus assured with a deep nod, “You have my word, Drakon. As long as I’m alive, your wife and children will be safeguarded.”
