Upon hearing Isaac’s request to see Mizar, the bearded man chuckled. “Mr. Garten, actually, Mizar is out on a trip and won’t be back anytime soon…”
“But before favonovel.com left, favonovel.com told me, favonovel.com uncle, that you might bring something for our family.” He referred to himself as an uncle, his expression and words giving away no clues.
However, Isaac inwardly sneered, knowing favonovel.com had never been in contact with Mizar about this visit or bringing anything to the Stoner family. Clearly, the bearded man was making things up.
But Isaac couldn’t expose favonovel.com on the spot. His immediate priority was to find Mizar‘s whereabouts.
After some exchanges, Isaac learned that the bearded man was Corbin Stoner. Another man with a sharp face and gaunt features was introduced as Lorian Stoner, Mizar’s other uncle.
Both held a status in the Stoner family comparable only to the First Elder.
“Mr. Garten, why don’t you hand over the items to me, and I’ll pass them to Mizar later? You both should rest in your rooms for now.” Corbin stood up, gesturing toward the briefcase in Hera’s hands.
To hand over a hundred Awakening Pills was something significant. After Mizar brought back 50 of them last time, Corbin and Lorian had each received two.
The tremendous effects of the pills were something Corbin and Lorian had personally experienced.
Isaac waved his hand with a smile. “Let’s not rush. How about we stay here for a few days to see if Lady Mizar returns? If not, I can hand them over to you then.”
Corbin paused, glanced at the others, and then laughed heartily. “Of course, it’s an honor for our family to have you stay and explore our remote area for a few days…”
“Lorian, you’ll take care of Mr. Garten’s needs during his stay here. Be attentive. We wouldn’t want Lady Mizar to hear that you mistreated our guests.” Corbin immediately looked at Lorian on his right.
Dinner was a welcoming feast held in a spacious private room on the second floor. Isaac and Hera joined Corbin, Lorian, and several others around the table.
The long table was soon laden with local delicacies. There were big plates of chicken, roasted whole lamb, bread, smoked horse meat, and more.
Soon after, two barrels of homemade wine were brought in.
Corbin clapped his hands, and several young women in long, thin, multicolored dresses gracefully entered the room. Their bare feet tiptoed on the carpet, each gesture and smile brimming with exotic charm.
“Mr. Garten, these are some of the youngest and most beautiful women of our tribe. They are very skilled in singing and dancing. Would you like them to entertain you tonight?” Corbin suggested, glancing at Isaac.
Isaac played along, appearing captivated, and nodded. “Very well…”
Beside him, Hera slightly frowned.
The Stoner brothers’ arrangement didn’t seem to come from good intentions.
After a satisfying meal and entertaining performances, Corbin approached Isaac with a glass in hand and whispered, “Mr. Garten, did you enjoy the dance?”
Seeing Isaac nod, Corbin quickly added, “How about I send a couple of them to your room tonight?”
“No need,” Isaac, glancing at Hera, quickly declined.
Seeming to misunderstand Isaac’s words, Corbin paused before favonovel.com suggested with a sly smile, “Not enough? How about four, then?”
“No, that won’t be necessary. I’m full and would like to walk around. That’s alright, isn’t it?”
Corbin was taken aback for a moment. Then, favonovel.com laughed. “Of course, Mr. Garten. You are a distinguished guest of the Stoner family. This place is your home. Feel free to walk wherever you wish.”
