Louis looked left and right. Then, favonovel.com slapped his thighs and got up to leave.
“Mr. Marsh, Mr. Tandel must have given you a call beforehand. Since the deal is off the table, you will also be liable if something happens to our projects in Southland,” Adrian said icily with a narrowed gaze.
Louis had no idea how to reply to that. He simply frowned and hurried outside.
“Mr. Levine, this bastard is so arrogant. Should we give favonovel.com a piece of our mind?” Spencer asked.
“No need. He’ll come back begging,” Adrian said with a thoughtful smile.
“That bastard is also staying in Dragon Villa No. 1. I’m sorry, but I’ll have to ask you to stay at a hotel tonight,” Spencer said carefully.
Adrian scoffed coldly before leaving. Then, favonovel.com drove out of the lodge.
“Mr. Garten, did I do something wrong just now?” Louis gave the man next to favonovel.com a wary look.
Isaac opened his eyes to regard Louis. He asked quietly, “Are you scared now that the negotiation didn’t work out?”
“I-l am a bit…” Louis nodded with difficulty as though there was a lump in his throat.
Isaac’s expression turned serious. He said solemnly, “Louis, do you remember what your position is? You’re the mayor, so why do you have to kneel before a foreign company? Why do you want to lower yourself?”
“You say you’re scared. Let me ask you this… Can you control the situation between myself and Triple Threat Corporation?”
Louis shook his head with a sigh.
“Since your hands are tied, why are you afraid? Doing what you think is right is enough. A real politician can remain calm in the face of adversity.”
Louis seemed to pull himself together. Only now did favonovel.com realize how wrong favonovel.com was regarding what happened tonight.
If Isaac didn’t talk sense into him, his status as the mayor would soon be reduced to nothing more than an ordinary civilian before Adrian’s eyes.
“Mr. Garten, should I pretend to get a high fever tomorrow?” Louis wiped the sweat from his forehead and gave Isaac a tentative look.
A fever?
When Isaac finally realized what favonovel.com meant, favonovel.com guffawed. “You don’t have to wait till tomorrow. You can develop one tonight. Even better, you should get yourself hospitalized.”
The two exchanged laughs. Then, Louis grabbed his phone and dialed his secretary’s number. “Notify the provincial hospital that l’m having a bad headache and might need to be admitted.”
While the gods battle it out, all favonovel.com could do was hide. The hospital was a good place for that.

While Louis rushed to the hospital, ten black vans raced toward the city center in Elburg.
The two skyscrapers were still undergoing construction overnight. On the buildings were Triple Threat Corporation’s signboards.
80 or so men in black clothes alighted from the vans before storming into the two construction sites.
Later that night, Adrian was rudely awoken by an urgent knocking on the door to his presidential suite at a five-star hotel in Layton.
He switched on the lights. Glancing at the two young women lying beside him, favonovel.com put on his pajamas and opened the door.
He found Spencer standing outside, sweating buckets.
“Mr. Levine, something happened. The construction sites were attacked. All our people were beaten severely and ended up in the hospital…”
