The grim news of Zeppelin’s beheading sent a wave of fury through Kellan, fueling a fire of anger within him.
“Once the enemy is within range, order all armed soldiers to open fire immediately!” Kellan directed his lieutenant, his voice laced with rage.
“General Kellan, the enemy appears to have halted their advance,” the lieutenant reported, his tone tinged with confusion.
Kellan lifted his binoculars again to survey the scene outside. It was true, the vast force of the Temple of Drakon had stopped six kilometers away.
The area around Golden City was primarily flat plains, with only a few sparse trees outside the city, leaving the entire Temple of Drakon army almost entirely exposed to Darkit’s view. Yet now, one hundred thousand Dusk and Dawn Soldiers were motionless, like a mighty beast pausing just outside Golden City.
“What are they planning?” Kellan roared in frustration.
If they could have used weapons of mass destruction, these exposed enemies would have been easy targets, potentially annihilated in minutes.
Damn it!
The Temple of Drakon’s army had halted six kilometers from Golden City due to critical intelligence relayed by Black Phoenix. Golden City’s defenders were armed with thermal weapons.
Machine guns and rocket launchers were being set up around the city’s perimeter, with defenders using the cover of buildings to prepare for the impending assault.
Jeeps stirred up billowing clouds of dust as they raced from the rear to the front lines of the main force.
The generals of the five armies, stationed at the vanguard, used binoculars to survey Golden City’s defenses.
The two gold mines, crucial to their objective, lay to the west of Golden City, nestled at the base of Mt. Karat. This geographic layout meant that the Temple of Drakon’s forces would need to cut through the city from east to west to seize the mines.
Isaac emerged from his vehicle, having just received Black Phoenix‘s update.
“Drakon, a direct charge now would make us easy targets,” Lucas approached, speaking gravely.
The generals and lieutenants of the five armies, accustomed to light thermal weapons, weren’t particularly threatened by them. However, for Dusk Soldiers, and especially the Dawn Soldiers positioned at the rear, these weapons represented a grave danger.
“Just now, I dispatched four drones for reconnaissance, and they were all shot down,” Lupinus also spoke up.
Isaac furrowed his brow, favonovel.com had examined the map.
Golden City was surrounded by plains on three sides, with no natural cover. The only hill was on the west side, and going around it would take too long.
“We’ll launch a strong assault, divided into squads,” Isaac suddenly stated.
“We’ll be the first squad, using spiritual energy to form protective shields. All lieutenants will be in the second squad, the captains in the third, Dusk Soldiers in the fourth, and Dawn Soldiers in the fifth.”
Lupinus and the others’ eyes gleamed with determination. It had been a long time since they engaged in a full-scale assault.
“Furthermore, inform Dragon One to rush southward, ignoring the remaining enemy forces. They should feign an attack on Golden City. They must arrive before midnight!” Isaac made a second decision after brief consideration.
“Order everyone that after entering Golden City, no harm should come to the civilians. But for the enemy soldiers, show them no mercy,” Isaac concluded, then turned and returned to his vehicle.
Connor had made three more calls, which Isaac didn’t answer. There were things favonovel.com had to do.
Elliot had not yet appeared, and Brock was undoubtedly in Darkit. Securing the gold mine would give them the upper hand.
With a hundred thousand Dusk and Dawn Soldiers, Isaac’s forces began immediate preparations for the assault, leaving the generals inside the city bewildered.
