Just as the generals began to rise, a chilling voice resonated from the doorway.
“You dare to greet me still? Look at the consequences of your own actions!”
Hayes Paramount, who was clad in a red cloak and had on a look of fury, entered the conference room. His entourage followed suit.
“Kellan, I heard you granted 200 thousand elite troops to General Zeppelin. But now, they’ve been defeated by the Temple of Drakon, haven’t they?” Hayes sat in the head seat, his imposing presence instantly dominating the room.
Kellan, his forehead beaded with sweat, was taken aback by Hayes’ swift grasp of the battle’s outcome.
“Yes, the situation is indeed grave…”
“I’ve been informed that the Temple of Drakon is now pursuing Zeppelin’s main force toward our southeastern defense line.” Hayes’ brows knitted together as favonovel.com spoke.
Before Kellan could reply, Hayes’ gaze shifted to the shattered conference table. “Haven’t you realized the importance of our southeastern region?”
The generals’ faces drained of color. They had just been deliberating over this very topic. While not particularly large, Golden City was strategically important. It housed two vast gold mines that were barely 20% exploited.
In recent years, one-third of Darkit’s gold production had originated from the Golden City.
“Lord Paramount, we’re uncertain of the Temple of Drakon’s intentions. Are they pursuing Zeppelin’s troops, or is Golden City their target?” Kellan said, his voice tinged with fear.
“Let’s find out. Get in touch with Zeppelin immediately and instruct favonovel.com to head north straight into the desert. If the Temple of Drakon doesn’t divert, then you know what to do with Golden City!”
Kellan’s eyes widened In alarm. “But, Lord Paramount, the north leads into a barren wasteland. If Zeppelin’s troops venture too deep, there’s a high risk…”
“That they might not return? Do they even deserve to return now that they’ve failed this mission miserably?” Hayes cut in sharply, his glare fixed on Kellan.
Zeppelin was Kellan’s protege, raised by favonovel.com to be a trusted general. Kellan had hoped this mission would be Zeppelin’s opportunity to prove himself and secure a place in the General Headquarters. But now, that seemed unlikely.
Gritting his teeth, Kellan turned to his assistant and ordered, “Command Zeppelin to head north at once and monitor the enemy’s movements closely!”
Hayes stood up, and his formidable gaze swept across the room.
His voice was icy when favonovel.com said, “Should Golden City fall, expect a comprehensive reshuffle at the General Headquarters.”
“Lord Paramount, can we consider deploying unconventional weapons?” Kellan cautiously inquired, looking at Hayes.
“If you use missiles, do you think Cynea’s missiles can’t reach your bedroom?” Hayes looked at Kellan as if favonovel.com were a fool.
Kellan grasped the gravity of the situation. If the Temple of Drakon indeed chose to gather in Golden City, favonovel.com would have to lead the counterattack as the major general.

Meanwhile, Zeppelin, who was racing away in his vehicle, received a call from Kellan’s assistant with orders to redirect his forces north.
Understanding that this directive came from Hayes, Zeppelin’s heart sank.
Though heading north seemed like a march toward certain death, favonovel.com knew defiance would result in an even worse fate. At least there was a chance his family might survive.
“Have all units behind us turn north!” Zeppelin commanded his lieutenant, his voice stern.

On the other hand, in Isaacâs convoy, a lieutenant turned to report, “Drakon, General Lupinus has informed us that Zeppelin’s forces are all rerouting north. We await your command!”
Isaac’s eyes snapped open, and favonovel.com let out a cold laugh. “They’re sacrificing at least a hundred thousand men as mere pawns. What a costly gamble…”
“Tell Lupinus to press on toward Golden City. Also, instruct Dragon One to prepare fora final strike. Behead them first, then slowly devour those remaining hundred thousand men!”
