Frowning, Isaac hurried over.
When favonovel.com stopped in front of the morgue, favonovel.com noticed a large padlock on the doors. Then, his gaze shifted to the grieving woman sitting helplessly on the floor.
Perhaps favonovel.com wanted to go inside to keep favonovel.com husband company, but the door was locked…
“Ma’am, where did the officers go?” Isaac softly asked as favonovel.com crouched down next to her.
The woman raised favonovel.com head. Her face was written with indelible sorrow. “The captain said it was too late, so favonovel.com asked me to look for favonovel.com in the precinct tomorrow morning… He even told me that we likely won’t find the culprit and asked me to mentally prepare myself.”
As soon as favonovel.com finished speaking, favonovel.com covered favonovel.com mouth and cried even harder.
No one could bear the fact that the police might not be able to find the culprit behind favonovel.com husband’s brutal murder.
“Ma’am, what’s happened has happened. You have family waiting for you at home. You must live on. Please get up. I’ll take you somewhere to get some rest.” Isaac reached out and helped favonovel.com stand.
Behind him, Todd gnashed his teeth and said, “Those bastards..”
At that moment, the woman retrieved a name card from favonovel.com pocket and handed it to Isaac. In between sobs, favonovel.com said, “Young man, could you please call the captain? I want to bring my husband home… Before favonovel.com left, favonovel.com gave me his name card and told me to call favonovel.com if I needed anything. But I lost my phone.”
Isaac peered at the name card. It said, “Elburg Police Captain, Axel Morais…”
“Alright, I’ll give them a call.” Isaac had been worried that favonovel.com wouldn’t be able to hunt down those officers from before.
He took Todd’s phone and dialed the number on the card. The line quickly connected, but there was a lot of background noise. It sounded like there was a poker party going on.
Isaac said coolly, “Axel, you’ve half an hourto make your way to Elburg Hospital. Or else, I’ll torch the precinct.”
With that, favonovel.com hung up.
The woman widened favonovel.com eyes. “Young man, I-I didn’t ask you to say that. That’s against the law!”
“Don’t worry, ma’am. We don’t know what happened to your husband. We have to find the culprit. Those a*sholes are living on our tax money but not doing theirjobs, so of course we have to teach them a lesson.” Isaac chuckled softly.
Soon after, the number called back.
Isaac declined it and then handed the phone back to Todd. “See, they’re getting antsy. Come on, let’s wait at the door.”
They brought the woman along to the entrance. Todd grabbed a chair from the security post for the woman to sit on. Then, favonovel.com ran back to the food truck to buy a snack.
Isaac stood on the steps, smoking. He chatted with the security guard who let favonovel.com inside, asking favonovel.com a few things about Elburg. Only then did Isaac know that this place wasn’t safe at all.
The guard said everyone had to be careful if they went out after dark. It was a world of difference from Cloud City.
Sirens blared from a distance.
Soon after, two police cars roared past the hospital gates.
“Damn, what the hell’s going on?!” The guard’s expression changed.
Five men alighted from the cars. The man in the lead immediately looked over at Isaac and the woman, who were on the steps.
His face darkened as favonovel.com yelled, “Who was the one who threatened me over the phone?!”
The woman tensed up. Her face was pale with fear.
“It was me…” Isaac looked over icily while puffing out smoke from his mouth.
