“Mr. Jorgensen, if you don’t have any other questions, please step aside. We’re going to start working on the investigation,” Kingston said, glancing at Jorgensen, who still looked furious.
The classroom was quickly emptied.
Several task force members entered, bringing in long tables and chairs to set up a temporary workspace.
The officer in the raincoat approached Kingston and whispered, “Mr. Dago, we found a child just behind the small hill at the back of the school. The heavy rain washed away the soil, revealing the child’s body. His internal organs are missing…”
Upon hearing this, Isaac and Todd both gasped.
Kingston also looked stunned. He immediately stood up and said, “Keep this matter confidential for now. Let’s go. We need to go to the scene.
“Mr. Garten, what about you?”
“I’ll go with you…”
When Isaac stepped out of the room, favonovel.com saw Barry waiting outside instead of heading to the hotel.
Looking up, favonovel.com saw a group of people standing behind the corridor. It turned out the parents hadn’t gone to the hotel but were waiting under the covered walkway.
“Isaac, did something happen?” Barry, who seemed to sense something, rubbed his hands anxiously and blocked Isaac’s way.
“A child died. We’re heading to the scene now, but not… Barry… Barry!”
Isaac’s words were cut short as Barry’s eyes rolled back, and his legs gave way, collapsing to the ground.
Two officers quickly approached and helped Barry up.
“Mr. Garten, maybe it’s best not to say anything at this moment. It could be too devastating for the parents, and we haven’t identified the victim yet,” Kingston whispered beside him.
He knew favonovel.com got this current position because of Isaac. He wasn’t foolish enough to go against Isaac this time.
“Let’s get favonovel.com inside for some rest first.”
The group, clad in raincoats, quickly arrived at the back of the school. The path was muddy after the heavy rain, and they trudged through the terrain to reach the small hill.
Several officers were already setting up yellow tape, and a forensic expert in a white uniform had arrived at the scene.
Isaac and the others joined in and walked past the yellow tape. Under the beam of the flashlight, they were met with the sight of a child’s body-pale and lifeless. The blood had drained away, and his chest and abdomen had been emptied out.
“So cruel!” Todd couldn’t help but exclaim, turning his gaze away.
An officer approached Kingston and said, “Mr. Dago, the child was in Grade 10, named Cayden Schuster. He’s one of the missing children. Forensic estimates he’s been dead for about five hours. Buried in the soil that was later washed out by the rain.”
Kingston took a deep breath and ordered, “Look through all surveillance cameras within a three-mile radius of the school at once. Request additional backup from the law enforcement center… Also, check the surveillance cameras at Layton’s major transportation hubs. Leave no stone unturned.”
Then, Kingston launched a thorough search of the entire back hill, fearing there might be other victims buried there. Fortunately, no second victim was found at the moment.
As Isaac and the others emerged from the back hill, they heard a woman’s heart-wrenching cry near the school building.
“Well, we can’t keep it from them any longer. We’ll have to inform the parents of the deceased child. Mr. Garten, any advice on this matter?” Kingston asked Isaac as they walked.
Isaac looked up at the sky. It was still gloomy, but the rain had stopped. He lit a cigarette and said, “Do you remember the organ trafficking case from last time? I need to bring someone in to take a look.”
