In the pouring rain, the black Land Rover sped on the highway toward Layton. Isaac had a grave expression on his face.
Before favonovel.com left, favonovel.com had asked Louis to send an investigation task force to Layton Bush Elementary School, where the incident occurred. He also called Claude at the surveillance station and urged favonovel.com to search for any information relating to the school.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Todd held half of a meatloaf in his hand and nibbled on it as favonovel.com said, “Don’t worry. Maybe Kai is just skipping school for fun!”
Seeing Isaac’s serious expression, Todd joked around to comfort him.
“It’s not possible for eight kids to sneak out together. Besides, we found nothing in the school surveillance, and the surrounding cameras didn’t capture any footage of those kids leaving. It’s probably not that simple,” Isaac said coldly.
Todd wiped his mouth and nodded with a serious expression. “Seems like you’re right.”
When Isaac arrived at the school gates, the sky had turned completely dark. Yellow tape blocked the entrance, and law enforcement cars with flashing lights were parked on the roadside. Several officers in raincoats were busy.
Standing at the gates, they could faintly see a classroom with lights on. There was a commotion inside.
Just as Isaac and Todd were about to enter, they were stopped by an officer.
“Who are you? Unauthorized individuals are not allowed inside,” the officer sternly said.
Isaac was about to respond when a tall figure rushed forward and slapped the back of the officer’s head. Then, a string of profanities sounded.
“Are you blind or something? Who’s the unauthorized one here? Get lost,” the burly man barked.
The officer immediately covered his head and stepped aside.
It was only now that Isaac got a clear view of the newcomer, a muscular figure with a face that resembled King Kong.
“Mr. Garten. Well, I didn’t expect to see you here…” Kingston approached, smiled, and rubbed his hands.
“You’re Diana’s ex-colleague, King What?” Isaac asked, looking at him.
Kingston chuckled awkwardly. “Kingston. Mr. Garten, what brings you here?”
“My friend’s son is missing. I just came here to check on the situation.”
Kingston’s expression changed immediately. He turned and gestured. “Quick, Mr. Garten, please come inside. Our investigation team just arrived a little while ago.”
Isaac had seen Kingston’s capabilities during the organ trafficking case before this. Kingston almost died then. He had met with the strangest thing favonovel.com had ever seen in his life.
Having just transferred to the law enforcement unit last month, favonovel.com was lucky enough to be part of the specialized investigation team for this case. So, Kingston intended to make a good impression in front of his superiors. Little did favonovel.com know that one of the eight missing children was a son of Isaac’s friend.
With Isaac and Todd in tow, Kingston quickly led them inside.
As they approached the school building, they soon heard the cries of women and angry voices from a classroom ahead.
Outside, more than ten officers stood and looked to be on high alert.
Isaac just arrived at the doorway and heard a man’s cold voice from inside saying, “Calm down. There is still no news about the kids, and we’re diligently searching for them… I also found out that some parents have posted about this incident online, which is unacceptable… So until there is news, I urge all parents to stay at the school!”
